It’s a fact that we’ve been duped as consumers. They sold us lower-to-mid-range mobiles at exorbitant prices. False promises, loads of marketing, a monochrome icon pack, outdated widgets, a false sense of community, and a few LEDs.
Comparing a Nothing mobile with any other brand in the same price range—or even cheaper ones—is enough to make you weep. The components are mediocre. The software is an amateurish botch job with a few add-ons. Very poorly polished and lacking any functionality or customisation. We’ve practically got no system apps to speak of, and the ones we do have are in their infancy.
The other day I dug my old OPPO Find X3 Lite out of the drawer, a mid-range model from early 2021. I compared its camera with my NP2A+ (remember, it was released in August 2024 for over €400) in different situations and was stunned. My old OPPO had a camera that was ten times better in every respect: quality, processing, backlighting, zoom, night-time performance… I feel ripped off, plain and simple. As for the camera app, I won’t even go there… Slow, buggy and unreliable. You take a photo, go into the gallery, and sometimes it simply won’t load (it gets corrupted) or takes hours to appear.
In short, I expected more from this company and they’ve let me down.
