When the new Nothing Phone 4a and 4a Pro were announced in March, one feature instantly caught attention: the new Depth Effect Wallpaper. It looked fresh, modern, and perfectly matched Nothing’s unique software identity.
But months later, users of the so-called flagship devices — the Nothing Phone 3 and, the 3a series, and other existing Nothing phones — are still waiting.
The frustration is not just about a wallpaper feature. It’s about expectations.
Many users believed the Nothing OS 4.1 update would finally bring the Depth Effect Wallpaper to older devices. The anticipation kept growing. Then the update arrived… without the feature. No explanation. No timeline. Just silence.
At this point, it feels less like a delay and more like existing customers are being ignored.
Nothing built its reputation on community-driven marketing and listening to users. But what message does it send when newer devices get exclusive software experiences while flagship users are left waiting indefinitely?
People understand that software development takes time. Nobody expects miracles overnight. But keeping customers waiting for months without proper communication is disappointing — especially when loyal users invested in premium devices expecting long-term feature support.
Nothing needs to address this soon.
Users are not asking for impossible hardware upgrades. They are asking for a software feature that was already showcased within the same ecosystem. Loyal customers should not feel like second-class users just because a newer phone launched.
If Nothing truly values its community, then it’s time to stop keeping users in the dark and release the Depth Effect Wallpaper update for older devices as soon as possible.
