Nothing Phone (4a Pro) Notification Delay / Missing Notifications
I recently purchased a Nothing Phone (4a Pro) through Rakuten Mobile in Japan and have been experiencing notification issues across multiple apps.
The main problem is that notifications are often delayed by several minutes or do not arrive at all.
To test this, I compared the Nothing Phone (4a Pro) with my previous Android phone:
Gmail notifications arrive on my old phone within less than a minute.
On the Nothing Phone (4a Pro), the same email notification may take 2–3 minutes to appear, or sometimes it doesn’t appear at all.
I also tested Instagram by sending messages from a secondary account to my main account. The results were similar, with delayed notifications.
Most concerning, I checked my LINE app and found messages that had been received the previous day, but I never received any notification for them.
I have already verified:
App notification settings are enabled.
System notification settings are enabled.
LINE notification settings are enabled.
The issue occurs across multiple apps (Gmail, Instagram, and LINE).
Another community member suggested that this is simply an Android issue. However, I do not believe that is the case because my previous Android phone receives notifications almost instantly under the same conditions.
I was also advised to reset my notification settings. I followed the recommendation, but unfortunately it made no difference.
In the end… NOTHING changed. Kind of ironic considering the name. 😅
At this point, because the issue affects multiple apps and persists after troubleshooting, I’m beginning to suspect either a software bug specific to the device or a hardware defect.
Has anyone else with a Nothing Phone (4a Pro) experienced delayed or missing notifications? If so, were you able to find a solution?
