Dear Nothing Community and Product Team,

I would like to formally submit a new product concept for your consideration, aimed at addressing a significant paradigm shift toward true ergonomics and refined minimalism within the smartphone industry. The core objective is to introduce a compact device featuring a display size of approximately 6.1 inches. This specific form factor ensures effortless, one-handed usability while maintaining an optimal canvas for daily media consumption and productivity.

In stark contrast to the industry trend of incorporating multiple secondary sensors of lower utility, this model proposes a single, high-tier rear camera assembly. This configuration leverages advanced sensor-crop technology and sophisticated computational pixel fusion to seamlessly manage both standard focal lengths and high-quality digital zoom, resulting in a clean and purposeful aesthetic. For the front-facing camera, a discreet punch-hole implementation in the top-left corner is recommended, thereby ensuring the center of the status bar remains entirely unobstructed for an orderly and distraction-free user interface.

To complement this streamlined visual language, the rear housing would integrate a refined iteration of the Glyph Interface. This iconic design would be precisely scaled down to harmonize with a more compact, premium chassis. Furthermore, the device would introduce a dedicated physical hardware control on the side profile, designated as the Essential Space button. This tactile interface would be fully remappable, empowering users to instantly initialize the camera, toggle the Glyph illumination, or execute specific application shortcuts.

Finally, this concept rejects the compromise of diminished battery performance often associated with smaller form factors. It prioritizes a robust battery capacity and strict software optimization within Nothing OS over extreme chassis thinness. I believe such a device would represent a highly strategic and sophisticated addition to the product portfolio, catering directly to users who value powerful, compact, and uncompromisingly functional technology.

Therefore, by using tempered glass and eliminating the possibility of wireless charging, it is possible to obtain a larger battery, and contain costs and therefore increase the price by between 300 and 400 currencies

Arpan If you know you know that we are at the limit for software that’s why telephoto lens exist on phones, so much can be achieved by a single lens specially when it’s a fixed lens in a tiny phone.

This is very true, but that makes it even more amusing to see how much effort OEMs put into improving camera performance via various software optimisations, processing, and tricks in general, just because of their extreme obsession with making uncomfortably thin phones.

If they just made phones only 2 mm thicker on average, they would save so much time and resources spent on all those camera optimisations. Consequently, we would have not just better battery life (due to more space to fit a larger battery), but better thermals (with higher performance) and much better overall camera performance. This industry is quite funny…

This just looks like an Essential Phone remake with Nothing branding.

The phone is absurdly narrow. People already learned years ago that ultra narrow displays are great until you actually have to type on them. Unless you’re expecting users to type diagonally across the keyboard all day, I don’t see this working in practice.

Compact doesn’t automatically mean better. There’s a reason most manufacturers settled on wider form factors.

could you imagine holding such a phone? why make an ultra long but also thin phone and calling it compact, rather than keeping an aspect ratio similar to an iPhone 13? (which would make much more sense)

The funniest thing is the fact you’re mentioning this in nothing community, a brand that is asthetics first lol, but yeah we have kind of hit a point now where most people don’t get wowed by the generic slab and want something different be it transparency, folding, or thin form factor. As a tech enthusiast, sure I don’t like the idea of thin phones but it’s just a path to something new, innovation is not meant for everyone but it might lead somewhere who knows

Arpan I don’t know about you, I prefer my phone to a work machine, and if it’s stylish then that’s nice… A phone shouldn’t be a decorative item, And now with the competition, the companies are definitely going to whoever manages to release a thinner phone😂😕

I want a phone that is thick but also top of the line in terms of performance, screen, camera, and all the important things in a phone, not how thin and “unnoticeable” it is

lolifnotely🇮🇱 ofcourse it’s the same for me, i would say im a bit more biased for asthetics, but I still want my phone to do all the tasks perfectly, but what im saying is, idk about apple but atleast samsung building a slim phone (s25 edge) didn’t work well and I never liked it but it led to one of the coolest phone (fold 7) because they were able to achive the thinness. And just because of that I respect the 25 edge because it led the way for something so innovative, a literal phone form factor that turns into a tablet, so yea if it ends up something good then I don’t mind it. Not a fan of a the air either but if they make a properly thin fold I would appreciate that because atleast the thin factor has a reason. Take nothing, had they just put these glyphs for an extra torch it would be useless but having these many capabilities is cool and that makes up for me tbh
