Hey everyone!
Like a lot of you, I have been eagerly waiting to get access to the Nothing Playground to create my own widget. But my patience ran out, and I had too many ideas I wanted to see on my home screen right now.
So, I decided to take matters into my own hands and make my own standalone Android widget app. The goal is simple: a collection of highly functional widgets that strictly follow the Nothing design philosophy.
I’m really excited to introduce the very first concept I’ve finished for the app: The Golden Hour Tracker.
As a photography fan, I wanted a widget that tells me exactly when sunrise and sunset are happening, but I wanted it to be entirely visual.
The Design: A clean, non-verbal geometric arch with stepped horizon lines (inspired by a sunset reflecting on the ocean).
The Function: A radar-like time hand slowly sweeps across the arch throughout the day.
The Flip: When the Golden Hour hits, the whole widget smoothly transitions into that bright, vibrant Nothing OS yellow.
This is just the beginning, and I am building out the rest of the app soon. I would love to hear what you all think of the aesthetics of this first one!
What kind of widgets do you feel are currently missing from your Nothing home screen that I should build next?
