I’ve always loved laptop/tablet hybrids, my favorite unofficial one (though I never owned it) being the iPad Pro, with surface coming next in line. I think nothing should enter the market with a custom os either based on Android or plain Linux. One name suggested in the discord for this was Nothing Quire(1), but I didn’t include that in the title as to make it clear that the name isn’t my idea.

Derren they could just make something that can run mobile apps and desktop apps when in different modes. I wouldn’t see how they could compete without a writing utensil also, so the Nothing Pen/Quill would be necessary. Pricing would also be a huge deal, if it offers pretty much everything the iPad pro does for 500-700 dollars that would be amazing
I saw a video where you guys got suggested a laptop with with blank keys in order to get a minimalistic design, but what if instead of that you make keys with little dot like leds that turn the characters on? I guess it would be quite expensive, but if possible, it could even bring a switchable bright mode where the whole key turns on but the character itself
DanielL_pezLeal I think you might be referring to my laptop concept. Although admittedly that wasn’t my intention, originally I intended for them to just not be lit but I ended up rolling with it 
I like the idea of keys being lit by leds. It could allow you to set custom icons too. But yes I imagine this is a prime example of have to drive up the price for something that’s not very beneficial to the user.
Such devices already exist and they running on Chrome OS. There is Lenovo Duet and a hybrid from HP. I had Lenovo device in the past and it was solid, well designed piece of kit for a fraction of the price ( comparing to an iPad). In the UK you could get it for £349 with the keyboard and stand case included in the box. There is also support for Pen/stylus although have to be purchased separately.
I don’t think this kind of device is about standing out from the crowed it’s about complementing existing ecosystem of devices. Like an iPad does not stand out, it’s a slab with big screen but it gets the job done and it gets it well. Also plethora of peripherals available for these devices adding more functionalities is a class in itself. Hybrid device appeal mostly to students, writers, researchers or journalists so I don’t think it needs anything glyph related, although backlit keyboard would be advantageous and if Nothing could implement glyph into it, that would be something to talk about.
Derren windows laptops have everything and everything sucks.
Mostly, bad screens and unusable speakers. Batteries are improving after Intel released the 12th gen. But basics of windows laptops are very bad.
Little things like a good hinge, large trackpads. There is much more that nothing can offer in a laptop.

you could also add a small place in place of the numpad or a extra space and add a screen in the gaming version to replace pcs
