Welcome back to another entry into our signature teardown series, we’ve had tear downs for phone switch glyph matrixes, our first Ear, and all new audio silhouettes, but today we are bringing you the very first Nothing teardown of a full metal unibody device with Phone (4a) Pro.
Down below you’ll see some new bits, some classic bits, and some bits we had to work around. 👇

🔴 Display
Phone (4a) Pro’s display is a flagship quality display packing a 144Hz refresh rate into a 6.83” AMOLED panel with 1.5K resolution and 450 PPI that’s protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. Making sure every game of PUBG, rewatch of Interstellar, and scroll down Nothing Community’s latest co-creations feel just as smooth as they are sharp and punchy.
With a peak brightness of 5000 nits in HDR and 1600 nits everywhere else, it’s the brightest display we’ve ever shipped. Ultra HDR photos and videos are given the colour and brightness range they deserve, making every moment clear even when you can’t find a shady spot to check the match score.
Phone (4a) Pro supports a 2500Hz instant touch sampling rate for instant responsiveness, while those who definitely aren’t still scrolling at 2am benefit from 2160Hz PWM dimming to reduce eye strain in low-light.
🔵 Vapour chamber
Our largest ever 5,300mm² vapour chamber cooling system keeps the unibody aluminium midframe cool under pressure. The 5080mAh battery with 50W fast charging fits perfectly over top of the vapour chamber, showing just how well packed in each individual piece is.
🟡 NFC Antenna
The NFC Antenna sits between the battery and the unibody aluminium frame of Phone (4a) pro to take care of all your transit and tap to pay needs.

🔴 Single LED Flash
🔵 Glyph Matrix
Phone (4a) Pro features our flagship-grade Glyph Matrix. Unlike the one in Phone (3), it is built from 137 mini-LEDs. While using fewer lights, it delivers a 57% larger area and is 100% brighter at around 3000 nits, allowing precise display of live notifications, charging status, timers, and more. The lights are sharper and capable of finer detail than previous glyph lights.
🟡 FPC of Glyph Matrix
The FPC or Flexible Printed Circuit board connects the Glyph Matrix to the SOC that powers it. An FPC is used in tight spaces allowing the electric signals to pass through where they need to.

🔴 RF Transceiver
🔵 WCN 6755 Wifi chip
🟡 Snapdragon 7 Gen 4
Built on a 4nm TSMC process, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 is an 8 core processor capable of up to 2.8 Ghz. Delivering 27% faster CPU performance, 30% improved graphics rendering, and 65% stronger AI capabilities when compared to its predecessor.
⚫️ ROM
⚪️ RAM
The UFS 3.1 ROM and LPDDR5X RAM work together to help Phone (4a) Pro achieve 100% faster memory read/write speeds, 147% faster storage read, and 380% faster write speeds compared to UFS 2.2. Making app switching smoother, faster launches, quicker installations, and seamless heavy-duty gaming, all while improving memory power efficiency by 30%.

🔴 Main FPC
This is the FPC that connects the motherboard to the daughterboard, stretching the entire length of the device. So the next time your phone rings, consider this: the modem receives the call, sends the signal all the way up to the SOC, which then fires it back down the full length of the FPC to trigger the bottom speaker and haptic motor. The signal travels the entire length of the phone twice, all in a fraction of a second.
🔵 Bottom Speaker Box
Part of the dual speaker system, this main speaker provides clarity on calls, games, and when watching your favourite shows.
🟡 2 in 1 Sim card slot
The SIM slot in Phone (4a) Pro provides space for either two SIM cards or a SIM card and a micro SD card for increased storage.
