Why anyone buys (4b) when there is better options.

If you are planning to buy new phone(4b) , then I suggest you to not buy this because of several reasons as stated below.

1. Price

Nothing phone (3a)-INR 27000 for 8/256

NOTHING phone(3a)- INR 34000 12/256

NOTHING phone (4b)- INR 39000 8/256

Why would anyone buy 4b instead of 3a and 3a pro. They have got an extra zoom lens, better overall camera, better performance, great design, glass back, symmetrical bezel display, better speakers and real glyph light.

Who would buy a Rs.12000 more phone with chin display, only same performance, plastic body, not great speakers, no telephoto lens, useless glyph matrix and main thing is like the Nothing 3a lite which was a budget phone of that series, gets update almost after 2 months than all Nothing phones. So if you but 4b, you may would receive update like this in future as this type of phone doesn’t sell that much .

So my suggestion is go to Nothing (3a) and (3a) pro which are literally better in all things and also saves way much money. 12000 if you buy 3a and 5000 if you buy 3a pro. There is no any reason to buy phone 4b over these two phones.

Performance is exactly 3% lower on average than the Phone (3a), because it’s the same chip but clocked lower (same LP/E core clocks). Everything else is correct.

People have been asking for the Phone (3a) series on the community for months, ever since the (4a) came out, and it’s barely available now. It’s not available at offline stores either.

Personally, I don’t mind buying an older generation phone if the newer one doesn’t offer enough improvements for the price. For example, I bought the Redmi Note 10 Pro even though the Note 12 Pro was already available. I specifically wanted the Snapdragon chipset because I enjoy flashing custom ROMs, so fewer official software updates didn’t matter to me.

But that’s my use case. Not everyone thinks that way.

If you’ve been active on this community, you’ll know there are plenty of people who care a lot about software updates. Every delayed update ends up with multiple complaint threads. So it’s fair to assume that software support is an important factor for many Nothing users.

Because of that, I don’t think it’s right to tell everyone to buy an older phone just because it offers better value on paper. For someone who plans to keep their phone for several years, getting an extra year of official updates can be a perfectly valid reason to choose the newer model.

Most people don’t make an impulse purchase a phone. They usually spend days or even weeks comparing options before deciding. If someone still chooses the Phone (4b), they probably know what they’re trading off and have their own priorities.

Shafman You will pay INR 12000 more for just 1 more Android update. And great design means plastic and plastic. Overall 3a and 3a are great phone in compare to 4b. Software update is always 2 month delay for budget series phone like 4b and 3a lite. Honestly bro for glyph matrix, people like glyph like more than 5 leds

You get 3a like performance but a newer design language (it looks similar to a 4a pro). Unlike the previous ultra budget model it has a working glyph matrix. In India it comes with a huge battery. You get longer software support.

There’s a lot to like. I’m happy with my 3a Pro, but if my phone was old I’d snap up 4b for a value device.

It’s an identical chip, including the GPU (Adreno 810), they perform the same 😁 You can’t notice 3% performance difference, not possible. That’s like being able to notice 60 vs 58 fps. It’s the same.

The Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 is also literally identical silicon as the 7s Gen 3, only its Prime core is clocked +200 MHz higher, that’s the only difference. It’s 1.8% faster than the 7s Gen 3. 7s Gen 4 = 7s Gen 3 = 6 Gen 4. Only some minor differences in clocks. People see 6, 6 is lower than 7, so they flip and think the chip is trash. Marketing is doing wonders 😁

My 3a Pro is great. It’s got a super zoom that can take a decent picture of the moon or wildlife. I’d imagine 4b would struggle with both.

It’s huge camera bump generally isn’t a problem, but… It can sometimes snag sliding it into a running pouch, and it doesn’t fit properly in phone-clamp style gaming controllers.

This new phone looks almost flat. For some people it might work well. And for a user who just sits on the same phone until it dies, an extra major android version is a factor to consider.

Shafman people care about Android updates so much but it is not that very very important because my brother a phone which runs on Android 13 but still perform normal. All the things I do, he can also do on his phone too.
Bro and 12000 for a year update. It doesn’t sound that great. And you can buy 3a if you need phone with no camera bump. It has got all things better than 4b. And a phone with chin is not considered new design. When you use it, you will notice this all the time and it feels weird. Imagine getting a phone with Rs.12000 money and everyday when updates comes and you see on the screen and think I could buy 3a and I would have got the update earlier and better display. 1 year update for 12000? What

I checked again from the Flipkart app. I bought the Phone (3a) Pro, so I opened it through My Orders, and even there it just shows “Notify Me” instead of a Buy option. If I search for it normally, it’s not listed either. That’s why I said it’s unavailable. You can search “Phone 3a” on the Nothing Community and you’ll find quite a few posts from people asking where to buy the 3a series after the 4a launched. Some were even checking if offline stores still had stock.
If it’s actually available, feel free to share the Flipkart link on those posts. I’m sure people looking for one would appreciate it. But from what I can see, it’s not available right now
