Plan to replace my NP4A Pro to NP3

Hi, I recently buy the Nothing Phone 4A Pro and really loved it due to its OS which really near in stock android, yes, it lacks a lot of features but over all I’m okay with it, specially I’m from Xiaomi/Redmi Phones which comes with bloatware and ads (Redmi Note Series from note 7 to Note 12 turbo).

what makes me think to get the NP3 is due to the storage because I usually have games in my phone such as CODM, Wilf rift, fallout, townsmen and Many emulator games along-side it’s may Rom (Citra, PPSSPP, Drastic and My boy).

But after researching I notice that there’s a lot of ongoing issue that the NP3 face such as battery, Display issue (tint), Optimization and OS Update being left out. Note that i don’t usually buy new phone yearly

Hope y’all help me to decide.

FredKick I have been very pleased with my NP3. I had two issues with mine, stuttering bluetooth, which has been resolved for me at least, and screen not turning off when holding next to my ear during calls which still persists. Other than that I have been delighted with my phone and not suffered green tint or any of the other reported issues.

Personally I haven’t faced any weird heating issues on my Phone (3) in well over a year of use. My phone got warmer during the last few weeks, however it’s summer with frequent temperatures of 30-40°C in the sun and partly very poor cellular service, so it’s no surprise the phone got very warm in such situations. I guess trying to game on it wouldn’t have really been possible.

However…

I don’t play any mobile games. Like at all, so this doesn’t help you in any way. The last time I had some sort of mobile game installed on a phone was when Angry Birds got released. 😅

If gaming is a top priority for you and just by judging your post it really seems to be the case, honestly why not get a dedicated gaming phone in the first place? Something where you know it does have the cooling capabilities to handle even demanding games during summer.

UpawNothing If you set the screen brightness to 0 and unlock it with your fingerprint, does the screen also light up with a green tint when the fingerprint sensor activates? can you please share a recording?

Daniel Would I need to do this in a darkened room? Just tried it and can’t notice any green tint. I will try to do it later this evening and record it.

Nothing in general have optimisation issues. Earlier I was using a Samsung S23 which had a 3900mah battery, I had to charge it 2 times a day. With my NP3, it is 1.5 times a day with two Sims and wifi. Moreover it gets warm (not hot) in normal usage. And if you spend an hour using its camera, it gets hot. For the current price of 40-45K, it is a decent phone but if you already have a 4a pro then there’s no point in switching and wasting money. Better switch to older Samsung flagships or Vivo… even with bloatwares their OS are better optimised.

Not very usable with the brightness turned all the way down. Wouldn’t really use it like this.

Daniel No worries, is that the only time the green tint appears? I thought people were seeing a green tint all the time?

I would still like the proximity sensor issue when making calls fixed… 😃

You mentioned it many times yourself so for you it’s obvious but I wanted to point it out for other people 🙂

Til21 🇩🇪 Does this only occur when logging in with the finger print sensor? Is this maybe the high intensity light from the optical sensor bleeding into the rest of the display? Wonder if this occurs on other phones with optical sensors?

Daniel I can replicate the fingerprint issue in a very dark room. Never really noticed it before as I always use the correct finger to unlock my phone. I can’t say it’s really affecting me at all and is really the first time I have tried to replicate it based on the videos uploaded to this thread. I have auto brightness enabled so in darker spaces the brightness automatically drops below 60 percent and outside this issue is not noticeable at all. It’s really a non issue for me. The proximity sensor issue during calls though is a big issue for me. Hopefully Nothing will fix both with a software update, not holding my breath though… 😊
