How do You use Essential Space?

I’m rather wary about AI (don’t like the idea of my data being stolen and I don’t agree with the ethics of AI) , so I’ve stayed away from Essential Space so far. However, it seems perhaps silly to ignore it. I was wondering how others use it and what might be good uses with little impact.

I don’t use Essental Space very much but there are a few AI features that I quite like. When I use Essental Space, I use it to set conext based reminders (e.g. when I get an invoice that I don’t want to pay right now, I hold the Essential Key to make a screenshot + recording and tell my phone to remind me to pay this. The AI actually detects the due date through the screenshot and creates a task in my Google Calendar that reminds me to pay this bill).

The other AI feature i use quite often is Essential Voice. It’s not perfect yet but I find it good enough to use it as speech to text for messages.

I use it as an inspiration hub for photography, colors and other near stuff I find. I also store Information I’d like to revisit over time.

The uses for Essential Space feel rather limiting. I typically don’t need a screenshot summarizing machine. I do need a chatbot to sometimes troubleshoot what’s wrong with my car or identify a bug or plant I’ve never seen, and in that capacity Gemini is way more efficient, and you can set Gemini or Copilot to be your dedicated AI companion from your nothing phone power button (press and hold). The essential key is really just frustrating to me because I press it by accident more times than I do on purpose. I really don’t use essential space at all now that there are better tools available on your phone. HOWEVER, your point about the ethics of Ai are valid. An Ai inside a sandbox you yourself set the boundaries to would be wonderful, but I currently haven’t discovered how to do that well.

I use it when travelling. I add my flights, hotels, taxi bookings etc and these all get added to my calendar automatically which is time saving for me.

I read somewhere there is a way to remove Essential and repurpose the button for other things. Has anyone tried this?

I also use it to capture screenshots of things I might be interested in so I can review them later. This functions in a similar way to Pixel Screenshots and the Samsung screenshot analyser function which is embeded in the Samsung Galley app. The AI review or summary of the screenshots can be quite handy sometimes. I have been refitting my bathroom and added screenshots of products I was interested in, I then arranged them into a bathroom product folder so that I could easily compare prices, sizes etc
