Nothing Phone 4a Pro user here — got mine in April and this phone is already a beast.
I play CODM daily and it runs at 90FPS smooth, zero lag, zero heating even with no AC in my room. My old phone would become a frying pan after one match. This thing just doesn’t care.
Batch home screen editing — finally. Collector — actually fun for random screenshots. The Geist font looks clean. The redesigned Settings with better spacing and the cleaner status bar with those new custom icons make everything feel tighter. The smoother animations that reverse when you change your mind mid-swipe? That’s the kind of detail that matters. The dedicated Glyph app putting all Glyph features in one place is long overdue. And Essential Apps Builder moving onto the phone — describing a tool in plain words and deploying it to my home screen without coding? That’s my “one billion operating systems for one billion people” right there. Built for me, not for everyone.
The whole Nothing OS 5.0 on Android 17 feels like someone actually thought about it before shipping it. And my 4a Pro is getting the Open Beta in Early September — can’t wait for that. Stable drops Early November.
But since we’re talking about where Nothing goes next — and yeah I know this thread is for explaining features, not requesting them, so mods can nuke this if they want — here’s what I’d actually love to see:
A Nothing Console Link app. Not some generic screen mirroring thing. I mean a proper, beautifully designed bridge that connects my Nothing phone to my console or PC. Let me accept game invites, see party chat, manage downloads, maybe even use my phone as a second screen for maps or inventory — all in that frosted Nothing UI with Geist font. No clutter, no gamer RGB nonsense. Just clean.
And here’s the real Nothing twist — use the Glyph Interface while I’m connected. Let the Glyphs pulse when my console download finishes. Let them show a pattern when my squad invites me. Something I can see with the phone face-down on my desk. No other phone can do that because no other phone has Glyphs.
That’s what “One billion operating systems for one billion people” should mean for gamers. Not the same gaming mode as everyone else. A gaming experience that only works on Nothing because it was built around Nothing.
The hardware is already there. The design language is already there. Just needs the software to connect it.
Also — the Nothing Community still doesn’t have a dedicated Android app. It’s web-only right now. Would love to see that change too.
Thank you Nothing and Carl Pei for building something that actually feels different.
Thank you to the community leaders who keep this place clean and approve the good posts.
And thank you to all Nothing phone users — the ones who actually use this stuff daily and keep pushing the brand to be better.
Roll on Early September.
