Hey Community,
I’ve had the opportunity to test the Ear (3a) over the past month as part of the Community Review Program. A big thanks to the team for sending this unit over to Indonesia!
After using it as my daily driver, I wanted to see if its unique feature set truly brings value or if it’s mostly hype. The Ear (3a) brings a bold design and interesting capabilities to the table, but there are a few important details you should know before making a decision.
I’ve put together a full video breakdown covering everything from sound quality and Advanced EQ to real-world experience with the new Audio Snapshot & Call Recording feature.
A few quick takeaways for those who want the TL;DR:
The Good: The Advanced EQ & Community EQ presets offer great audio customization. The design and 3-bar Glyph status LED look fantastic, and the passive noise isolation is solid.
The Mixed: Out of the box, the sound was quite bass-heavy before the latest firmware update re-tuned it. Additionally, the LDAC codec occasionally caused choppy audio in my testing.
The Missing/Caveats: There’s no Personal Sound Profile feature (which is present in the Ear and CMF Buds Pro 2), and the Pro transcription feature for audio snapshots requires a subscription after the 3-month trial.
I’d love to hear your thoughts, especially from anyone else testing or using the Ear (3a)! What are your thoughts on the new Audio Snapshot feature?
Let’s discuss below!
