Hey everyone,
I’ve been using the Essential Recorder via the Essential Key on my Phone (3) for capturing and summarizing long sessions, and it has been a fantastic workflow addition. However, I ran into a few edge cases and wanted to get some clarity or share feedback with the community and the team behind essential:
1. Hard Recording Limit (59m 59s Cap)
During a recent lecture/meeting, my recording automatically cut off right at 59 minutes and 59 seconds.
Is this an intentional built-in cap per session, or is it a bug?
If intentional, is there any setting or toggle to extend or remove this limit?
2. Audio File Storage & Locating Files
Since theres also a standard Nothing Recorder app, which lacks the direct AI summarization button found in Essential Space.
Where are the raw audio files from Essential Recordings stored in the local file directory?
3. Custom Gemini API Key Integration (Bypassing the 300-min Limit)
Essential Space currently has a built-in 300-minute monthly limit for AI audio processing. Since Nothing OS already leverages Gemini under the hood IIRC:
Is there an easy, low-effort workaround (or community tool) to process recordings using our own Google AI Studio / Gemini API keys?
Feature Request: A developer setting in Essential Space allowing users to plug in their own Gemini API key (or link their Google AI account) so heavy users don’t hit the 300-minute wall would be game-changing.
Let me know your thoughts.
