Phone (2a) - Fast Charging

Hi guys, I bought my Nothing phone (2a) one day ago. Had ordered the Nothing 65 watts charger with the phone. Since then i have been noticing this constant issue with fast charging. Everytime i plug in the phone to the charger, it doesn’t recognise the fast charging (45W) and continues to charge slowly. When i disconnect and reconnect the pin, it sometimes recognises the fast charger and starts charging fast. But overall it has been a miss, takes almost double the time to charge. Can anyone help me understand if this is a software (which i think it is, at it is not able to recognise the fast charger) or a hardware issue Kindly give your feedback….

I’ve measured the charge rate (2 x different chargers that show Watts ) and never goes above 14watts even when it says rapid charging. Hopefully a software fix is on the way. Only benefit is that this slow speed helps the battery life span.

PA65 i’ve since found out that you need to use a ‘PPS’ compatible charger. I bought an anker 313 45w charger and now it charges much faster (over 30watts) when it has a low state of battery charge. Nothing should have this as a note in the box.

My and my friend’s 2q is continuously connecting and disconnecting charging on its own. Latest update is installed on the phone. Please fix this or help me. My phone 2 works perfectly fine on the same charger. The issue is only happening on 2a

SamipShah The same issue is with me also…. I am using Samsung 25 watt pd charger….

AbhishekKumar_2Oy58a34A3 sorry to hear. I hope the one you are using is the original from Samsung store. There are many fake ones available in market and on ecom platforms. I bought it from Samsung store itself as nothing charger was costly. I hope your issues gets resolved asap.

SRM_008 I bought it from Samsung store. I checked its physical appearance and body, it is authentic. Samsung will not ship you duplicate Samsung products I think… I checked the my charger with a Xiaomi phone and it was working good like delivering near 20 watts of power consistently….

I own a phone 2 and my father and my friend own 2a. My phone 2 works perfectly fine on my pd charger but my both of the other 2a phones do not charge properly on the pdf charger even after the latest update. Please someone help if facing a similar issue and fix it

I have recently noticed that while charging my phone, it gets warm quite a bit. I used app called AIDA64 and phone thermal was 42 C. Is it normal?

spellsaif well you are right, but the real problem with nothing charger & GaN CMF charger kicks in when temperature reaches 40 degree it reduces the power to charge so slow speed results😈

Seems pretty standard to me, not that I have checked the tempature while charging but most if not all modern phones these days get warm while charging, and usually the faster the charging speeds the warmer the device may get. That’s my 2 cents.

I am using a CMF charger by Nothing Tech, but it takes more than 2 hours to fully charge the Device .Why is this taking so much time?

The issue is with a lot of people. I just saw Michael Fisher’s review on YouTube. Even he mentioned that no matter how many chargers he tried, he could not get the fast charging speeds as advertised. I am pretty sure that the review unit sent to him cannot be faulty either. It is clearly an optimisation issue and nothing needs to fix it via an update for the phone 2a especially with the CMF for nothing charger. I have taken it to the service centre as well but got a hopeless reply stating that this is normal which I don’t agree to. Nothing should take notice of this and fix this issue at the earliest. Please refer to his video review for the phone 2a . The phone is good and does the job just fine but it is just the charging issue that needs to be fixed. I know that companies don’t listen to consumers much these days but I am hoping that nothing can take a famous tech reviewer’s word and fix it.

I am using Nothing phone 2a around 3 weeks the charging speed of the phone is 1hrs 20 min most of the times but sometimes it’s taking 1hrs for 50 percentage I don’t know weather any one facing this type of issue. I am using Nothing cable c to c and CMF adopter please do reply if any facing this issue. Thank you

Fast charging not working 50% of time, charger and cable original brand new . 15 days old, Fast charging is a hit or miss. Need to try multiple times. No debris in port. Same issue with different cable as well. Guess this seems to be a bug. Happening after recent updates.
