Can someone help me understand why the company provided case for the Nothing Phone (2a) does not have a hole for the mic at the back (near the flashlight).
It’s been itching at my brain ever since I bought the phone to find out if this was deliberate or if it’s a miss from the team.
immanuelsamc Hey, speaking with the team, there is no need for concern, the area you’ve highlighted is a venting hole rather than a mic, so installing the case shouldn’t impact audio recording.
MitunManav The hole is there to counteract the negative pressure caused during speaker playback, without it, the sound could sound muffled at loud volume levels. Don’t worry about the water resistance, it’s been fully accounted for in the tests and my (not super professional) understanding is that the filter covering the hole is only small enough for air to enter.
Raymond Thanks a lot for letting me know Appreciate your time and effort
Actually recently i had condensation inside the camera lens on my phone 2a. So this might be reason right? so now naturally my question is this a problem or? Is it fine? I have attached the pic down below
It’s sad to see that you take fans of the company for absolute crackers. First off, seriously what are you guys on about, ‘The hole is there to counteract the negative pressure…….’ what a load. After doing a bit of searching on my end, I am more annoyed now that the team themselves don’t know what the hole with the mesh is for.
For anyone curious like me, and a real sucker for meaningful aesthetic just check out a jerryrigseverything video or this one which was a better look at what the hole was about:
THE HOLE IS JUST FOR AESTHETICS and does not serve any purpose. Trying to cook up a reasoning on it for customers is just truly sad.
I have just purchased a nothing 2a phone and I attached a back transparent skin that have not venting whole it’s blocking the venting whole. Is there any issue if the whole is block by skin paper?
