I’ve got myself a new nothing phone 2a and everything works perfect except Android Auto. With my old Samsung Galaxy S10 it worked just fine, but since I switched it started to have massive problems. It connects to the car via USB but then the AA screen just isn’t responsive at all and only updates every few minutes. So it’s not a problem of my car, because with every other phone it works.

I also updated everything, tried to reinstall it, disabled the battery saving mode for AA and so on..

Is there any hidden option that could cause this kind of problems or is AA just not optimized for this phone yet? Somebody with similar problems who got a solution?

arpan2308 changed the title to Android Auto with Phone (2a) .

I have the exact same issue.

Best thing would be to log a support case and/or report an issue via the phone (Settings > System Settings > Feedback).

I have already logged a support case for mine but awaiting a response. More people who log the same issue the better I think.

Hope Nothing can resolve asap, as it’s kind of a deal breaker (for me anyways).

freshj1ve Well, good to know that I’m not the only one with this problem. I also just reported the issue via the feedback-function, thanks for the information.

I hope it gets fixed soon, otherwise I have to change my phone again.

jonaa nice work, thanks for submitting the issue.

Yeah, I was happy to see your post as I hadn’t heard/seen anyone else say anything yet online or even on Discord, as I asked the question.

Hopefully they can resolve soon, but yeah the more people reporting this issue the more tracking it will probably get.

Keep us updated on how you go with support and I can do the same, look forward to getting this resolved.

        Cheers,

Update 18/03 (as it won’t allow me to create a new reply):
I got excited this morning as Nothing OS 2.5.4 Software Update (though no notes on any bug fixes/improvements to Android Auto specifically though) has dropped, but unfortunately the same still occurs with this update. 😔

I still haven’t heard anything more from Support as of yet, and someone in another forum did confirm Android Auto is working for them in there 2020 VW so it’s weird it’s not working for us. 😕

Anyway, will try and stay positive. 🤞🏻

It will be best if we share our car models too. Maybe it is a problem with the infotainment system provided with the cars etc. I tried to use android auto with 2 Peugeots one is a 2021 208, the other is 2023 Rifter both did stuck while setting up the android auto. I hope it will be resolved, besides this i am liking the phone coming iPhone but this leaves a bad taste in mouth.

Thank you O_uzcanG_l_en, good idea. I was thinking the same also regarding posting our car models.

I drive a 2019 Suzuki Swift Sport, but yeah as I mentioned my Pixel devices and even tried a Samsung on the weekend and that worked fine.

Yeah it’s a hard pill to swallow at the moment if you rely on Android Auto in the car, but other than that I’m actually in love with the phone and Nothing’s take on Android. Actually prefer it over my Pixel 8 Pro besides the Camera and Android Auto working.

Fingers crossed we have some good news soon in regards to a workaround or a fix.

I have just sent them a video recording, replicating the problem while making a bug log. My android auto shows up after a minute or two waiting. But it just shows an image, it does not respond to touches but sound transmits trough the cable.

O_uzcanG_l_en nice work, that’s awesome.. that should help them a lot. Nothing Support haven’t responded further to my emails so I haven’t had to capture a video or bug report as this point. but yeah your issue is the same/similar to mine. If I go into Android Auto, tap on something then go out to the main screen and then come back in it’s gone to the previous input i.e. if I’ve tapped maps, but the screen isn’t moving and like you said the sound works.

Be amazing to get this resolve and the phone would be close to perfect (minus the camera) I recon, keep us posted. 🙂

              jonaa
I’m getting this exact same issue. Just received my new 2a yesterday after my old phone died and I needed a replacement and tried connecting to my car with android auto this morning and screen either stays blank or refreshes every minute of so. Installed the latest updates but still no change.

When I can see icons, such as the “hello google icon” I can tap on the screen and I get the usual audio response I’d expect, but no visual response from the screen.

As suggested by the posters above I’ve reported the issue via the ‘feedback’ option on the phone. Fingers crossed it’s just early release bugs and it gets sorted soon. Good to know it’s not just me at the very least.

adamcannon2 nice work and thanks for reporting it/responding to the thread. The more people that report the issue the more likely it’s going to get fixed sooner. Let’s keep it going and if anyone hear’s a workaround/fix in sight (probably be fixed by a phone software update) please update us here (I will do the same). Cheers!

@jonaa @O_uzcanG_l_en just wondering if there’s any updates from support from your side yet? I gotta grab a charging log today and send to them as they just got back to me yesterday.

I have the same problem in my car. The screen only updates every few minutes or so and the touchscreen in the car doesn’t work at all.

No issues with my Motorola One Vision and I’m using the same USB A to C cable with my Nothing.

Thanks s0ner, best thing you can do is log a support case and/or report an issue via the phone (Settings > System Settings > Feedback).

I’m following and waiting for an answer, I hope it won’t be another disappointment with NP2a after they failed to add the discount code to my order, a code of about 8% that I lost

CiprianCojocaru sorry to hear, just reach out to them RE: your discount code to see if they can help.. they did when I had issues prior to ordering. If you have the phone already and are having issues with Android Auto I would suggest submitting the Feedback, the more the better. Hopefully we get some good news that it’s finely working as expected soon. Cheers! 🙂

EM (1) thanks for your response. Yeah, I saw that thread when I was doing my own research on Android Auto issues.. that sucks. 🙁 If it can’t be resolved then I might have to move back to a Pixel device. Fingers crossed it does get resolved for both Phone 2a and Phone 2 at some point, but I do get what you’re saying.. frustrating.🤞🏼

I read on another thread that updating the software on your head unit (infotainment system) might fix the issue. I haven’t tried it yet but it’s worth a shot.

freshj1ve I have just sent a charging log, this should not require that much effort I think. This is a small feature that should be ready out of the box, only reason I have changed to the android was community and refined looking nothing OS. I would like a technician response to this thread actually.

Everything else seems to be working except incoming calls. Whenever there’s an incoming call the music pauses but neither is anything displayed on either screen (phone or car) nor is there any sound or vibration. Even disconnecting from the USB doesn’t show the incoming call.
