I just tested the Android Auto with calling, google maps and youtube music and everything seems to work fine for me. Not silk smooth but works okay and everything responds to first press. Call is working okay however i only tested in one way when I started a call from the Android Auto screen. Call was stable and call quality was okay. Renault Mégane 2019. I just bought the car and did not update the os on it so it is possibly the stock or several years old version.
Android Auto with Phone (2a) [SOLVED]
Thanks for the update there. Hmm odd as my wife is using Android Auto on the Nothing Phone 1 quite happily with our Peugeot 2008e infotainment system from 21. I’ve just checked her Android version and it’s also Android 14 so hopefully there’s a fix in there somewhere. They may claim to not officially support it (which to be honest is a rather dumb decision from Peugeot) but it most definitely does work, or at least can be made to work with a little software engineering.
Update: I drive a 2018 Suzuki Swift and it doesn’t work. I just tested it with a 2022 Swift and Android Auto worked instantly. The 2022 has a different head unit to the 2018. It must be the head unit software which is causing the issue.
I’ve had an update from Nothing support which may suggest they’re aware of the fault and are working on it.

adamcannon2 that’s some good news, thanks for sharing.
Hi everyone,
I’ve been facing a frustrating issue with my setup and wonder if anyone has encountered something similar or has any solutions. My problem is with making phone calls while connected wirelessly to Android Auto, as well as using a plain Bluetooth handsfree connection in my Škoda Octavia IV. Specifically, my microphone isn’t picking up any sound during phone calls. This issue is new to me; everything worked fine with my previous phone.
To add, all necessary permissions have been granted for the apps in question. Interestingly, WhatsApp calls go through perfectly fine, and the microphone works without any issues when I’m using my Galaxy Watch. This leads me to believe the issue is isolated to the Google Phone app. I’ve gone as far as to disable the app, remove its data, and set up the permissions from scratch, but to no avail.
It’s quite puzzling that this problem only affects phone calls made through the Google Phone app, while other call services on my phone operate normally. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on how to resolve this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi to you and other which has the same problem. I described it in this topic:

And also send logs and screen recording to Nothing team. Whoever has the same issue, please follow below guide and send feedback via phone. There is something going on with that issue, so the team has to get other data from your phones to hopefully find a root cause and fix it.

Hello, I have a Peugeot 2008.
I connect de USB cable and the anfdroid auto starts very slowly like you have 2000 ping. you touch the screen nothing happen just pass 2 min or more its very frustrating .
I use all the time android auto and for me its too bad nont have android auto in my car so please make it happen
THK YOU
Aar_oCoelho I have a 508sw and don’t recognize this issue. This might be something specific to the version of your unit in the car.
Hi Pavlus,
I’m having exactly the same problem as you on a 2020/21 Skoda.
I’ve tried everything you have to try and rectify and no luck. I subsequently trawled the net to look for a solution and came across your post.
Similar to you; my wife’s Pixel 4 works without issue, as does my old Huawei P30. More confusingly, the 2(a) works on a 2014 Skoda via normal Bluetooth (no android auto present in that car) and works normally via other Bluetooth devices also (earbuds and Bluetooth speaker). I have no idea why this would happen - it’s like the presence of android auto disables the mic on the 2(a) when connected.
Did you manage to find a solution to this dead mic call issue?
I’m submitting a feedback ticket for it also.
I’m using and having issues with a Skoda Superb mk3.
Feedback has been sent and I’ve received a reply to confirm the issue is with the mic and that I’ve tried resetting the phone…which I obviously did prior to carrying out all my further investigations!
I did do a migration from a Huawei to Phone2(a) via android set up using a USB cable. I wouldn’t see how this could affect the bluetooth calling though.
I have since noted that the mic in the car does work when using the Google assistant while connected to Android Auto. The spoken command is shown on the car screen and the command is carried out by the assistant. This shows the mic in the car is connected to the phone for this to be able to be done. It just doesn’t work when making calls. Very strange and seems like a bug or some sort of software issue.
I hope it can get sorted because it could end up being a deal breaker for keeping the 2(a) - I need to be able to make bluetooth calls in the car that aren’t one way conversations!
Yes it is like basic function not working… expected much more from community brand like Nothing. I get it is new HW and I am able to live with it but only for certain amount of time so please Nothing focus on this at it seems it is somehow affecting škoda(possibly also VW) users.

I just got this response (which is not good enough imo) from Nothing Support:
"Hi,
The technical team suggests that you try upgrading to Android Auto. Currently, it seems that the compatibility issue arises from the mismatch between the versions on your mobile device and the car system.
We look forward to your feedback.
Kind regards,
Nothing Support Team"
I responded with:
"Hi Nothing,
Thanks for your response, but sorry I’m not really happy with the response.
What does the technical team mean by “try upgrading to Android Auto” actually mean?
I’ve tested two Pixel phones (both running Android 14 same as the Nothing Phone 2a) and a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and they all work perfectly. So where is the miss match here?
Thanks
Regards,"
Sent a follow-up email:
"Just to add I will see if there’s an update firmware for my infotainment system in my car but the point I have is why do other Android devices work (same Android version too) and the Nothing Phone 2a doesn’t..
Thanks
Regards,"
Yes Nothing support is like really bad designed AI at the best so far…
