lgio002 Is the calling working in that car? Since its a still VW car…
Android Auto with Phone (2a) [SOLVED]
- (Edited)
Ond_ejKoubek shouldn’t be a “niche” feature in this day in age, heaps of people use smartphone mirroring in their vehicles, it should be a minimum requirement that it works properly.
pavlus I agree, as there’s so many different infotainment systems out there it would be hard to test compatibility with all of them. Saying that though, if Google, Samsung etc. have it working on the same system that these devices work on why can’t Nothing? As lgio002 said it’s a standard. If they can’t work it out they should reach out to Google for further assistance with Android Auto. But yeah, fingers crossed Nothing do come around and get it sorted with a workaround/software update fix.
I got this response from Nothing support via email yesterday:
"Dear xxxxx,
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience you’ve experienced with the compatibility issues between Android Auto and the Nothing Phone 2a. We understand your concern and frustration, and please rest assured that we are actively investigating this matter.
Our technical team suggests that this issue may be related to the platform itself. We are currently working diligently to identify and resolve any compatibility issues. We apologize for any lack of confidence you may have experienced and appreciate your patience as we work to address this issue.
The problem is still under review. We will keep you posted if any updates. Thank you for your patience and support and apologize again for any negative experience you have.
Kind regards,
Nothing Support Team"
My car has a service book next Tuesday, I will ask them to upgrade the system to the latest software version and then test but I don’t believe it will change anything, but once tested I will be responding back to Nothing with my findings. I can update here also.
Got the same problem with Android auto with my car (Suzuki Vitara 2017). I love the phone but was surprised with this issue. It would be a real downside of they not fox this. Good that so many contacted the support centre
Wireless Charging Not supported, dual video not supported, image rotation not supported, Air Gesture not supported Camera Image Quality is very poor.
Need to be improvement to the above subject.

Works without any problems on 2019 KIA Ceed…

Michielll sounds like you have the same Bosch unit as me (I have a Suzuki also). When you turn on the electronics (engine doesn’t have to be running) you can press and hold the settings button (bottom right, cog wheel icon) for about 10 secs and then tap Software Version. This will then tell you what software version your unit is running. Mine is currently running 1790 (1 behind the latest) and apparently the latest is just a terms & conditions update anyways, but let’s see if anything changes. You can check the latest versions of the Bosch unit here and work out how old the version you are running is. Unfortunately you can’t download the software yourself from here, as it’s just the source code.. but you can ask your local Suzuki mechanic to do it for you. Sorry everyone, getting a little off topic but yeah thought I’d let you know Michielll.
TinkerStinker you’re lucky then.
Thanx for the effort. Appreciate it. I know that is an option i can take and maybe i will do that.
My feelings is it is really the phone, because with my Motorola g9 it worked perfectly. My hope is, that in the next month nothing will have a miracle update with a unicorn that fixes the problem

freshj1ve Out of curiosity checked Bosch website and my car version, it’s 1891, so I do have the latest version. Every single other brand I have tried is working fine (xiaomi requires forcing to USB 2.0) only Nothing isn’t working with Android Auto…

Michielll You’re welcome. Yeah, my other Android phones I’ve used in the past have worked fine without any problems also. Ha, I’m still trying to stay positive that Nothing can actually sort it out, but right I’m that close/torn to going back to a Pixel device.
@Lu_sArranja yeah, I don’t expect running latest software version for this Bosch unit to make any difference with the Nothing Phone 2a. I keep telling Nothing that why do other Android phones work fine with the unit but yours doesn’t, but they kind of dance around the question. Most likely post my car service on Tuesday that I’ll be reporting back to Nothing that it hasn’t resolved the issue. I would suggest telling Nothing via Feedback (of you haven’t done so already) it’s still not working even with the latest version for your infotainment unit.
I am curious with the reply from nothing when the cant dance around the question anymore. No problem if there is a big, but admit it and give a timeframe when it is fixes. From a consumer perspective
I`m sure they will do the fix, because it is not a minor bug and a lot of users will face it and at the end it will make a sales drop which none of company can afford. Question is only when.
They already have bunch of proofs that other brands of mobile phones are working, as from my side i have tested iphone XR, Xiaomi Redmi note 8, Samsung Galaxie series and Google Pixels and all of them works, so THERE IS and issue related with Nothing OS or some Android functions/libraries.
Same issue here on a Peugeot 3008 from 2020.
Sent log with screen recording to nothing support as was request but I don’t think it will make difference.
1. Dial *#*#569#*#*>>Bluetooth
2. Turn on “Screenshot” & “Record screen” &“Bug report”
3. Select “NOT REBOOT”
4. Turn off & on the Bluetooth once
5. Reproduce the issue (keep the log kit running in the background)
6. When the issue appears, please help save a screenshot (press the Volume- & Power buttons)
7. Dial *#*#569#*#* to go back to the log kit (or tap the one in the notification bar) and tap “Stop capture" and wait for “Log saved”
8. Tap “OK” when the log is generated
9. Turn back to the “Log tool” interface and tap the top right corner>>Log list>>long-press the log file we need>>copy>>ok
10. Open File Manager and find it under internal storage>>NtShareLog>>Choose the log just captured
11. Upload the log file on Google Drive and share the link.
PS: Please set the “General access” to “Anyone with the link”
I have the same issues. Received my phone yesterday and spent a couple of hours trying to get it to work with android auto. Glad to have found this thread. Thanks.
Works fine with an android 13 phone but with my new nothing phone the screen takes ages to show android auto and then just freezes. Hope there’s a fix for this or I’ll have to send it back. Using android auto is the kind of feature that people would just take for granted nowadays.

richard248 I would suggest sending Feedback (Settings > System Settings > Feedback) if you haven’t done so already. The more people report this issue the better in my opinion, so Nothing know how many people are actually affected. No one official form Nothing has responded to this thread so far.
freshj1ve Thanks for the suggestion and I’ve just sent feedback.
