I’m on the train right now, heading to London for the first time since before Covid and it got me thinking about the recently announced Phone (1) launch event that’s taking place in London.

As we’re slowly getting back to normal in the world, people are starting to be able to attend events again. This is Nothing’s first in-person event and I’m really looking forward to seeing who’s in attendance! I have my fingers crossed that some of us get an invitation too 😉 It would be an amazing experience to see Phone (1) revealed live and first hand.

Since this is Nothing’s first in-person event, I think we’ll see an entirely different structure to anything we’ve seen from them before.

So, what are you hoping to see from the event? How are you hoping they structure it? Have you ever attended a technology event before and what did you like most about it?

adbo enjoy yourself in London buddy, perfect weather for it too!

Isn’t it exciting that there’s going to be a live event! It seems like a lifetime ago since we had these epic launches. Oh boy, to see phone(1) revealed in person would be truely iconic.

I’ve never actually been to a live, in person launch event but have always wanted to. I’ve been to a few tech expos where there’s been a few launches there but nothing to this scale.

I actually haven’t got a scooby what sort of structure they will project, but I’m looking forward to their incredible visuals as per previous Nothing key notes.

As I wrote earlier in another thread, I was hoping to get an invitation to the live event by joining London.

Unfortunately, I’m working that day, so there’s no way I can get away and then even though I’ve made arrangements in advance for my passport (as it’s now required to go to London following the Brexit), to date I still don’t have an appointment to drop off my pre-application.
Knowing that I will have to wait until September in the best of cases in order to have my new passport in hand (following the COVID pandemic).

So I’ll stay in the office and watch the conference live, I hope.

1st- HTC : A few years ago I attended the launch of one of HTC’s smartphones at the Auteuil racecourse, organised by HTC France, it was nice, but as I was not in VIP mode, I found myself in the middle of the crowd present.
2nd - Google IO - In 2011, I was lucky enough to participate in the Google IO live organised by Google France and we left with a bunch of goodies (including a laptop case). Really nice to be able to attend.

What I expect from the Nothing keynote is to know everything about the Nothing Phone(1),
If Carl has other products to present to us that day.
But also that he explains us where Nothing is heading with a little more detail about his vision of its ecosystem.

It is exciting that we are finding ways to navigate through this pandemic and get back to a place of normalcy.

I’ve missed in person events. They are so much fun! The best part is meeting up with your friends that you’ve made in the forums and realizing that these friendships and relationships are real, and not just something you made up typing on your computer or your phone lol.

I’d like to see pictures of all the community members hanging out, having fun, and of course using the phone lol. Since I’m in the US and can’t make the event, I’d love for as many people as possible to share their experiences on social media so I can feel like I’m there with you all!

Man! I wish I could attend a Nothing Live event sometime soon here in India. Can’t wait to the picture of the London launch event 😁.

I attended a OnePlus event at the launch of 7T it was just a hands-on experience event at their CP store here in Delhi had a pretty good time there talking with fellow geeks.

Sib64 those sound like cool events you attended! I definitely have high hopes for the Nothing event.

Yeah I definitely agree with you there, getting the chance to meet up with people face to face that you’ve been talking with for months or even years online is a super fun experience. As I said I hope some of us get the opportunity to do so at this event!

adbo Great thread! Super excited about the event and as you’ve all mentioned: fingers crossed some of us can be there in person! 🤞

The last device launch I attended was for the OnePlus 7 Series, in London. I loved it, lots of great merch, a few tech influencers were there and getting hands-on time with a new device … perfection!

I’m sure Nothing has some exciting ideas about how to make a phone launch unique; they’re clearly very good at challenging convention!

To know that we are all watching together, around the world, at the same time, will be a special feeling - I’m sure we’ll have an event chat on the Discord nearer the time, so we can react together too!

          Can’t wait 🚀

adbo Ya, the experience of attending a physical event is totally another level. Hope they will plan a similar event in India in future.

Last I attended OnePlus 7T and first OnePlus TV launch in Delhi, India. It was massive and that community feel was special. Experiencing live stage event and then real life experience of device post the launch is always great.

Your post Adam made me dig pics of that 7T event:

Btw for the unaware, that’s Carl on stage 😛

arpan2308 That’s great! I bet the atmosphere was amazing and I love the goodies you picked up too. I’ve never been able to attend a tech event as they’re always somewhere too far for me like London. But I might be able to make an exception for Nothing 😁

Looks like something else is planned for this week too! Perhaps this will shape some part of the London event next month.

I love attending events in person! I hope Nothing eventually can do an event in the US or hold a contest for some of us to fly over to the UK 😆 The OnePlus 6T event is the last event I’ve gotten to go to in person. I was there on behalf of OnePlus helping set up the phone displays and to show attendees the phones and answer questions. OnePlus also treated us to a fun ride on a OnePlus boat to go see the Statue of Liberty 😃

arpan2308 very true, offline events were fun. Had attended many oneplus events and also the excitement of getting freebies was a different feeling.

Got these oneplus branded glasses from one of the event

I hope you will be able to make a video about the event for those who can’t make it…🦜🦜🦜

                I’m still angry that I can’t be there 🤬🤬
