Nothing OS Wishlist (2024)
Need option in recorder app to cut audio.
- (Edited)
We are approaching the end of 2024, and it has been a great year for Nothing. The brand has been quite receptive to user feedback to the best of its ability. Moving forward, I would like to share my NOS feature wishlist and suggestions for future update considerations. I have taken into account the collective feedback from a group of Phone (2) users, including myself, while compiling this list, but it should be applicable to all the existing models.
- Double-tap to lock from the lock screen.
- The search bar should be moved to the bottom of the app drawer.
- Per-app refresh rate options: 60Hz, 90Hz, and 120Hz. This would reduce repeated queries about why a particular app runs at a maximum of 60Hz or 90Hz instead of 120Hz. Additionally, users would have more control over their app performance by restricting the maximum refresh rate when it is not needed, helping to save battery life.
- Display approximate battery charge cycles and health estimation. This feature would help users keep track of their battery status, allowing them to decide when to replace it or adjust their expectations regarding the battery backup accordingly.
- Trigger 1/10Hz referesh rate for the LTPO models at slightly lower brightness values than the current implementation for better battery savings.
- Proper Monet implementation in Quick Settings (QS) toggles: currently, only the background color changes, but the toggle remains white.
- The QS panel should scale up or down properly when DPI/smallest width is changed from developer options (currently, the QS panel UI remains the same whether we use 350 or 490 smallest width).
- More haptic feedback implementation with respect to UI elements, such as toggling brightness or pulling down the QS.
- NOS lock screen clock styles are great, but can we also have the stock AOSP ones or draw inspiration from Pixel-exclusive clock styles? The dual-line clock from OS 2.0 could make a comeback. Depth wallpapers paired with the such clock styles might be cool to have.
- The horizontal padding of QS toggles and brightness sliders needs to be fixed and made consistent with the padding of notifications and the media player.
- Add a blur effect to the background when viewing recent apps. A “Clear All” button can be added beside the screenshots on the left side.
- Add option for locking network bands for areas with specific band coverage for better reception.
- How about disabling the preview of locked apps in recents?
- An ability to see the notifications even if the app is locked.
- Swipe from the top left to view notifications and from the top right to access the Quick Settings (QS) panel, or vice versa.
- [Optional] I was somewhat hesitant to mention this as NOS animations are already good enough imo, but many users are seeking a smoother animation engine similar to those used by competing brands. NOS could take inspiration from these in its own unique way and potentially create something even better and more appealing.
If you align with these suggestions, please leave a like and/or react to this comment to represent your views. Feel free to add more to the list and reject any suggestions if you don’t like them as well. This helps the brand analyze the general wants of the user base and take action accordingly.
As always, the feedback was shared via Settings> System > Feedback before posting this comment.
Cheers!
The default icon pack ( color ) should update to android latest themed icons pack
Totally on board with this wishlist! As a Nothing Phone 2 user, the Quick Settings Panel issues have been a bit frustrating. Eagerly awaiting the improvements suggested here.
Nothing os very bad os i think oxygion os 15 Is best plz nothing fast update N.dialer , gallery, Notes, Battery icon change and dynamic feautres add and any feautres update fast other company compition and market public dimaand feautres
Spike animations are already good enough imo, but many users are seeking a smoother animation engine similar to those used by competing brands. NOS could take inspiration from these in its own unique way and potentially create something even better and more appealing.
Hard disagree. This is so much work for no real benefits except the dumb test of opening and closing apps rapidly (tech bros at Twitter/Oppo/Huawei/Xiaomi moment). Also makes the OS harder to update straying further from AOSP
Spike Add a blur effect to the background when viewing recent apps. A “Clear All” button can be added beside the screenshots on the left side.
Also a disagree. NothingOS does not have blur anywhere in system so it would look out of place + the straying further from AOSP argument applies.
Clear all button is purposefully inaccessible in AOSP. Users should NOT clear all apps often. Unused RAM is wasted RAM and the apps should stay in RAM rather than a could launch every time.
Add options for:
1. App drawer transparency or a slider to adjust transparency.
2. Hiding apps in the app drawer while keeping them visible on the desktop.
3. Setting the N-dot font as the default header font.
In the Nothing OS operating system Nothing OS needs to bring live wallpaper support along with customize font support
Add sidebar With screen translator in shortcut for any time acces, calculator and etc.
- Circle to search
- Dialer app
- Contacts app
- Nothing Keyboard
- Community app
- Nothing Maps app
- Notes app
- File manager app
- Password & passkey management app
- Health App
- Media control widget in lock screen
(any new apps that will replace native google ones)
Please add [Dolby Atmos] in nothing phone 2a

We need to be able to add custom app short cuts to the the lockscreen.
