Not able to do wifi calling with airplane mode on in 2a
Activating aeroplane mode disables WiFi, can you confirm if you are manually re-enabling WiFi afterwards?
Derren Yes, wifi will get turned off when I turn on aeroplane mode, later I have to manually turn it on
@VasudevaNS7 did you solve this issue?
Same problem. My five years old redmi phones can do this. I just want to use airplane mode when i am in my house but due to this problem i can’t.

VasudevaNS7 wait… you are saying you could make calls while the aeroplane mode is on and the Wi-Fi is on? How’s that even possible? If you turn on aeroplane mode on, your phone lost cellular connection. Wi-Fi calling doesn’t work that way, you need to be connected to your network provider’s network to make calls.
If your 5 years old phone could make calls while aeroplane mode is on, then that’s unusual and doesn’t serve the purpose of enabling aeroplane mode.
Sourav_Satvaya My NP(1) is able to make a call in aeroplane mode with Wi-Fi activated. So long as you have previously connected to the cellular network and have wi-fi calling enabled, it will be set up to work using IMS - just like VoLTE.
What is VoWi-Fi?
VoWi-Fi stands for Voice over (EPC-integrated) Wi-Fi. VoWi-Fi is a complementary technology to VoLTE and utilises IMS technology to provide a packet voice service delivered over IP via a Wi-Fi network. Where possible, VoLTE calls may be seamlessly handed over between LTE and Wi-Fi and vice versa. Conversational video is also possible via Wi-Fi (see ViLTE).
How does Wi-Fi calling work?
Wi-Fi calling will work similarly to other Wi-Fi enabled voice over IP (VoIP) applications – such as Skype or WhatsApp – albeit with slight differences. Wi-Fi calling works through transmitting the same cellular data packets as Wi-Fi VoIP through a Wi-Fi connection and across the internet. From the internet, data is passed to the cellular network and then back to the answering party. Wi-Fi calling must be supported by the smartphone to work. The service is a newer version of the Generic Access Network (GAN) protocol.
I think it is due to security reasons in Android 14.
The SIM card isnt accessed in airplane mode, so the telephone number wont be read out from the phone anymore

Anonymous192 I know what VoWI-FI is but turning on airplane mode to make calls using VoWI-FI never worked for me. I tried with 5 different phones ( 3 of them are from different brands) and none of them could make calls without turning off the airplane mode. Everytime I tried to make a call it showed a prompt like “turn off airplane mode to make calls". I think it depends on region. Here in India I never saw or heard that someone could make a phone call while the airplane mode is on.
i’m having the same problem on my new n3a and it looks like i’ll have to return it because this bug doesn’t seem to be resolved, i guess….
with the following brands VoWiFi is poosible using airplane mode
APPLE, XIAOMI, SAMSUNG, REALME, MOTOROLA and this are only the ones i´ve personally tried
