Notification number on App icons

Hello,

Is it a feature of this phone not to show the number of notifications on the app icon (Whatsapp, Outlook, Gmail, Teams etc) or does something have to be enabled to see it?

N ormal Android behaviour is to show a dot over the App icon if you have a notification, which is how it is in Nothing OS. Having a number there instead sounds like a feature added in specific OSs e.g. Samsung.

I suppose this is the case, however it is still a Chinese phone and as such these features are generally all present. Strange that the founder of Nothing ex Oppo didn’t think about implementing them on these devices too. At least to let the user decide whether to see the dot or the number.

Notification counters are a must have feature for all messaging apps. Samsung, Oppo, Vivo, Realme etc all have this feature and of course iOS has this feature also. I have been asking for this feature from Nothing since the beginning.

MadOne its very subjective . i prefer dots . so not a must have , could be given as choice u can say

I’m also on a “must have” team. This is so popular over the other phone companies.

Hi all! There is a workaround for displaying notification numbers instead of only dots: use a different launcher, not the “stock” NP launcher. For example, I prefered using Microsoft Launcher for some time on previous phones and ported it automatically to my current NP2 and didn’t notice the notification issue (it’s an issue for me). But when I’ve switched to NP’s original launcher I was bummed by the missing notifications counter 😕.

So, if displaying a counter instead of a dot on your apps notifications is a must, use a different launcher, one which allows this function 🙂. The attached screenshots demonstrate how it looks on my NP2
