After months of waiting, I finally installed Nothing OS 2.5.3. While all Nothing Phone 2 users were spamming about the update, I patiently waited for it. I had started to face heating issues with daily social media usage; the phone was getting hot, and the experience was so bad that sometimes I encountered a few frame drops, leaving me quite disappointed. However, after today’s 2.5.3 update, the heating issue seems to have settled, and it’s no longer overheating. Even though the Phone 2 only received a very basic update with the latest security patch, I believe it has somewhat addressed the heating issues, though this is just my first impression. I hope the next update will fix the camera and bring many more features to Phone 2 users. Having used MIUI and Color OS for the last two years, I am very fond of Nothing OS. Making it more stable with updates should be the priority for the Nothing team. 8 plus gen 1 is a great processor and I think we haven’t seen the full potential of it on phone 2. Future awaits??!

EDIT: Heating issues still persist, now whether they’re better or worse, I’m starting to notice a few throttle issues when pulling down the notification panel. Also touch response is weird sometimes. My post didn’t age well. I hope they prioritize optimizing the chipset and improving the user experience. By the way, I don’t want them pushing out half-baked updates; I just want to ensure we’ll have a better, smoother experience over time, especially with Phone 3 on the horizon. I hope they address the concerns of current users first, although Phone 2 didn’t sell well. Yet, we deserve equal treatment.

@sanjaysuguthanreal for your information heating issues is still there. There was no improvements related to heating issues and battery or camera it was just a basic security patch and bug fixes. If you feel that your device is not heating anymore then you might have tested it properly try out heavy usage task then look at it.

Hi bro..Can u have a detailed info about “what u term as heating” what it feels like, what’s the temperature, in which part of the phone it is felt, can the heat be felt through a back cover, is it felt when the phone is kept idle or using some specific app, any difference in the heating when phone is kept in airplane mode.. please elaborate

Irfansheikh yep I was wrong, I was surprised the very first time when I installed the update but now it seems nothing has improved lol. Upgrades are downgrading the performance just like I experienced in realme gt 2 pro. Just get rid of this heating issue and fix the camera is all we need right?

Anonymous i don’t know, bro. Spending 40-50k to use a phone with a heating issue doesn’t sound good. I don’t understand why TSMC’s 8 Plus Gen 1 is heating up. It’s not supposed to have such issues. I think they seriously need to work on optimizing the chipset. I’ve heard that the Nothing 1 and 2a have no heating issues. I don’t understand why we experience them when using the most expensive device from Nothing yet.

HiggsBoson_MuQE0QKUn1 I think heating mostly affects the side aluminum rails and the upper left-hand side of the phone. Sometimes, the temperature reaches around 40-41°C, and I have also noticed a few frame drops when switching between recent apps. There’s no throttle when opening the app drawer, but sometimes it throttles and heats up when pulling down the notification panel. For example, I have also seen a few stutters when turning on mobile data after keeping it idle. There’s no heating when the phone is kept idle. I mostly use YouTube and Instagram. I don’t find any weird apps running in the background; I’m not sure why it heats up when using social media apps like Instagram, YouTube, and Telegram, etc.
