So I’ve got the nothing 2a and it’s great.

The only problem is I’ve discovered that in online calls, the microphone auto gain is not applied unlike regular phone calls where the audio is normalized before sending it out.

It is the same reason why car owners complain that people cannot hear them and it should only affect online calls only from my testing.

I’ve attached a picture of recording the audio from a PC while in Google meet with the nothing 2a as a demonstration of the problem.

The most embarrassing part is using Apple’s earpods, it’s pure noise on the other side even after trying to gain it.

Customer support said the technical team is not able to reproduce it. So I’m not sure where to go now.

Tldr, online calls using USBC or Bluetooth, can’t hear you.

I’m not sure if this actually describes the same issue in facing when I make calls via WhatsApp. There’s seems to be a dual ringing tone; a WhatsApp ringing tone and a normal phone call ringing tone, happening at the same time. Even after the person on the other end answers, they ringing still carries on as though they call hasn’t been answered. Pretty annoying.

    Hey guys, I m experiencing this on my 2a too. People on the other side have commented that audio sounds muffled or like under water. This only happens with WhatsApp call and when using Bluetooth headset.

    I m on the latest 2.5.4a update.

      I am also having the same issue but on Microsoft Teams and Bluetooth headset. Calls directly from the phone with no Bluetooth is ok.

        hey all

        i use a nothing 2a and i have clearly noticed that it doesn’t pick up microphone input from earphones when using online calls rather it uses the phone microphone itself.

        its clearly visible in the graphs too

        its a very annoying issue for people who use earphones to take online calls.

        i request nothing to look into this and fix this issue.

        Brand new Nothing user, switched from Z Fold 5 today, less than 24 hr ago.

        Chiming in straight here, cause as soon as I switched to Nothing Phone 2a plus (Special Edition, if it matters?…) all of my friends started wondering, why can they barely hear me.
