Experience after one day with this update is good so far. No heating - battery drain or lags so far. Can’t say about camera, haven’t had a chance to try that yet.
📱 Phone (2a) - Nothing OS 2.5.5 Changelog
- (Edited)
Got myself an interesting situation here. Phone battery easily lasts me 1.5-2 days but the SOT isn’t what it used to be before the update. I get like 4-5 hrs SOT now compared to 7+ hrs couple of weeks back. It could be incorrect SOT reporting by the system. I dunno
Schippie I am unable to watch 4k hdr videos after the update and the camera seems to be degraded
BappiSaha me too
I update to 2.5.5 two hours ago. Taking a picture before the update and the same after and no changes for me. Maybe a little change colour.
I don’t going to talk about battery until two complete charging cicles.
I’ll see Android Auto calls because is the only problem with this phone.
Nothing phone 2a bgmi game leg please update fix problem please
I bought nothing phone 2a and my experience with it Sometimes there is a software glitch and sometimes the camera stops moving in and out
I have problem with the phone system stability. I do compare to my p30 pro. I had that phone for almost 5 years and was the best phone to date. Had to change it due to lack of security updates and system updates. 2a seems lacking with performance. Apps occasionally crushing, lagging, not opening properly. Camera sensor processing trying to much. Looks like nothing still not finished it’s products. I chose this phone after weeks of positive reviews but now I am disappointed especially with performance
Scrolling issue not resolved
Hi guys
Can you guys confirm that whether we can go to recent apps window when main menu (all apps ) is opened
AkshayJayan_3aSx32pJUg Do you mean go to the recents menu from the app drawer? If so no, have to go to the home screen first.
After installing this update the scrolling in most of apps is much more smoother than before, well done No issues noticed so far.
The Nothing OS 2.5.5 update is a welcome update especially for Nothing Phone 2 users but for a Phone 2(a) users like me, the update is very minimal, particularly the camera improvement, processing is still slow and the photos captured in any light scenario seems to be a bit washed up, i know that the phone 2(a) camera is one of its weakest point but i hope we can still improve its performance since the photos and videos being produced tends to lean on the more non acceptable side, it’s a hit or miss i guess but the results are more on the “missed”. Overall performance of the phone is still great but it feels that the camera and its results was an afterthought when this phone is being conceptualized.
neikees Thanks! yeah, you are not wrong to point out 5sec per preview .. which is NOT okay for a quick snap, e.g. moment has passed, lost forever, .. or asking a stranger to snap me and others, (respect their time). Yep. I’m aware too! They are lighter (weight) phones too - Chinese brands.
1) The OS + Security updates are why I went for Nothing over Poco/Vivo
2) The OnePlus12 (lower version, a different name, sorry can’t recall now) (2023 claims by company and their leaders) decision to not make OS+Security (4+5 yrs) was why I didn’t continue my 4th phone relationship with OnePlus.
3) But yea .. really, really a buzzkill for me. Guess camera is core, for practical reasons (government, workplaces) and leisure (standing around, in social setting, unable to praise Nothing =O haha,)
Anyway, if Nothing reps. are listening or watching via AI/data analytics –
IF Nothing brand is to grow by word-of-mouth, or just product strength, casual buyers and consumers are not going to play test phone OS, hardware build quality etc, .. market share is/will only grow based on WOW, instant factor E.g.
BASIC quick instant attractive point = a SOLID GOOD CAMERA is the first thing people look at before thinking price, brand name, OS, etc….

JasonLorenzo the update is very minimal, particularly the camera improvement
I disagree with this. The camera improvement is notable. The preservation of detail and HDR management is much better than before.
However, it is totally true that the camera app bug where it takes a long time for the preview image to be ready is still present, and sometimes it gets stuck there. Let’s hope it’s the next thing to fix.
JIO 5G is not working in Phone 2(a) after update. I think it is software issue. I try to set Jio True 5G set to manually but not connect. No issue in JIO sim, it’s working another phone.
is it just for me or the display brightness had a hit after the update
