  • When on vibrate or silent mode only the right glyph flashes

Hi,

When my Nothing Phone 2 is in silent or vibrate mode, only the top right led flashes. This also happens in Flip to Glyph mode. Often at work or in a Teams meeting I set my phone to silent or vibrate and flip it. It would be very handy that the full glyph works for good visability, not only 1 led that’s flashing. Is this a bug or is this because the phone doesn’t know how to Glyph without sound playing?

Best regards,

Agus

FYI I also tested it with adding another ringtone to a contact (my other phone nr.) and adjusted the glyph patern for this contact. But also in silent and vibrate mode only the top right led flashes, not the glyph patern I selected for that contact.

Best regards,

Agus

Did some testing (Nothing Phone 2 , OS 2.5.5) and probably know now what the issue is. I used a custom ringtone and not one of the stock/default/orginal or composer Nothing Phone 2 ringtones. When using a custom ringtone the glyph works fine when the sound is on. When in vibrate, silent mode (also when you added a custom ringtone to a contact) a custom ringtone will only make the top right led flash. The system probably doesn’t know or recognize what glyph pattern to activate or use on a custom ringtone (when there is no sound playing). I tried it with a stock ringtone and then the glyph flash pattern will also be shown in vibrate and silent mode. Would be nice if this will work for custom ringtones also.

aguz Hey, are you able to record a video demo of your findings? regardless, you can submit a report using the build in feedback feature located in Settings -> System -> Feedback.

Daniel changed the title to When on vibrate or silent mode only the right glyph flashes .

    Hi Daniel,

Unfortunately the feedback option on the phone is to cumbersome for this issue. To make it somewhat clear:

    1. Download/upload a music file for example an .MP3 file on the Nothing Phone 2.
    2. Set this music file as ringtone.
    3. Make sure sound is active, and that the Nothing phone 2 is not in vibrate or silent mode.
    4. Turn your Nothing Phone 2 around so you can see the backside of the phone and the glyph leds.
    5. Take another phone or ask someone to make a call to the Nothing Phone 2.
    6. Check the glyph pattern when the ringtone is played during the call. Probably multiple glyph leds will flash.
    7. Set the Nothing Phone 2 in silent or vibrate mode.
    8. Turn your Nothing Phone 2 around so you can see the backside of the phone and the glyph leds.
    9. Take another phone or ask someone to make a call to the Nothing Phone 2.
    10. Check if only the right top led glyph flashes instead of the multiple glyph leds that was seen in step 6. So the glyph pattern is different in silent/vibrate mode than in sound mode.
    11. Change the ringtone on the Nothing Phone 2 to the stock ‘clwb’ ringtone found in ‘Nothing Signals’.
    12. Turn sound on, and make sure that the Nothing phone 2 is not in vibrate or silent mode.
    13. Turn your Nothing Phone 2 around so you can see the backside of the phone and the glyph leds.
    14. Take another phone or ask someone to make a call to the Nothing Phone 2.
    15. Check if now multiple glyph leds will flash.
    16. Activate vibrate or silent mode on the Nothing Phone 2.
    17. Turn your Nothing Phone 2 around so you can see the backside of the phone and the glyph leds.
    18. Take another phone or ask someone to make a call to the Nothing Phone 2.
    19. Check if now multiple glyph leds will flash and not only the top right led. The glyph pattern will be the same in sound and vibrate/silent mode.

If above steps give other results, perhaps there is something wrong with my Nothing Phone 2.

    Best regards,

    Agus
