I added a Quick Settings Widget on my lockscreen and selected Calculator for it.

When on lockscreen and tap on the calculator widget, I should unlock to use it. why should I unlock to use it?

What’s the point of that widget ?

I think that’s normal behaviour. Any widget that doesn’t need to unlock the phone in order to turn it on, like the torch for example, will work without unlocking the phone. The other ones require the phone to be unlocked first. This makes sense though, okay, nobody can do any harm on you phone with the calculator app, but it does allow for other people to access the phone without your permission.

Response doesn’t make sense.

Any App allowed to be selected to be used when the phone is locked. It’s not like the User can select a random app, the choices available are limited. Those choices should work on lockscreen or that choice shouldn’t be present.

Otherwise no point in offering that option.

Well, it does make sense. The reason for having those widgets there, is to use them as a shortcut, a quick way to go straight to the corresponding app when unlocking the phone, something a lot of users find very convenient.

If someone gets a hold of my phone, clicks on the calculator widget and gets into the phone because it didn’t had to be unlocked first, well, suffice to say that would be bad.

You still aren’t understanding the issue.

I want Calculator to work like how I can work the camera without unlocking.

Where did I say, I want the phone to be auto unlocked?

belthur Well, you wrote “why should I unlock to use it” in your opening post. Which can also be read the way I read it. Anyway, I get what you mean now. The way they see it is as I said, a shortcut to go straight to the app when you unlock the phone. But, if they can have the camera and a few other things open as a quick shortcut, maybe they can add the calculator too.
