I’ve had the Nothing Ear for about a week and I typically use it outside. When I wear the Nothing Ear outside I usually turn the noise cancellation to the max to mitigate the noise from the passing cars. While the noise cancellation at max strength can effectively block out car noises, often the noise cancellation strength suddenly drops off, sometimes completely. This dropping off in strength does not shows in nothing x app, but a large amount of external noises suddenly been let through. This behavior is sporadic, somedays the noise cancellation works well throughout the days, somedays it falls off every half minutes.
I was puzzled by this behavior until recently I noticed that this sudden drop off of noise cancellation often happens when the weather is windy. I found out that when the wind noise is large, this is the time when the drop off happens. When the wind noise is being suppressed, simultaneously most external noises also went through.
It turns out that the Nothing Ear’s wind noise reduction basically tune down the noise cancellation, or even turn it off completely. In my opinion this behavior is very disappointing and it made the noise cancellation feels unstable. I hope Nothing can fix this in a future patch for the otherwise well designed Nothing Ear.
