Hi guys!
Started watching Carl’s interview on Cold Fusion and paused it just to offer some encouragement to the team. I want to call out a couple of things that I don’t think are appreciated enough and I hope you keep for phones to come. I finally bought the Nothing Phone 1 in July after drooling for months and it has slowly replaced my iPhone 11 pro max (divest from iPhones everyone!)
I love this phone so freaking much, here are some of my fave features:
- Physical dual SIM as a standard- this e-sim business is not for me. I do a lot of travelling and have to switch Sims for different countries all the time plus I have multiple Sims in my home country. I love that this makes that super easy for me, and it’s the reason I kept my previous Android for so long
- The fact that the phone already comes with a screen protector - only just replaced mine for a tempered glass one like last week at the Nothing store, I loved being there the team was super nice
- The screen is beautiful and fluid at 120hz- I stopped using my iPhone because it just felt large and clunky compared to Phone 1. It’s now relegated to work for the rare phone calls and the occasional slack replies and unfortunately videos and pics still. Yeah sure the newer iPhones are sooo much better than 11 pro max but they’re also like 2-3 times the price of this and I’m trying break the shackles of Apple’s ecosystem.
- The way this phone runs Android OS and the fact that it’s so close to stock Android?? Bellissimo.
This one is a fan favourite I think - the Glyph system. Regardless of what the reviewers say please don’t stop this design language/the Glyph function. I’m not a notification girly so virtually all my notifications are off my default but I do appreciate the show when my phone rings, and I’ve now started using it to track food deliveries. It’s such a badass feature at this point that it doesn’t even matter if you just keep it there for the aesthetic.
Please bring back the pure black colour in future releases.
Okay that’s all, thank you, love you, byeeee
(PS I had the chance to switch to the pixel 8 pro and I didn’t, I’m counting on the cameras in the coming generations to get really good - I don’t need Google’s software magic. Please don’t let me down!)
