Ich hasse diese Taste so sehr… sie wird zu leicht mit dem offiziellen __term_0__ -Fall gedrückt, da er an den Rändern zu eng ist, und sie aus meiner Tasche aus dem Bildschirm auszuziehen, schaltet sie aufgrund der Taste oft ein Ich glaube nicht, dass ich die Funktion jemals verwenden werde. Ich habe mich also gefragt, ob das physikalische Entfernen des Knopfes und das Ausfüllen mit weißem Epoxid (ich habe eine weiße 3A) Probleme verursachen würde? Ich bin kurz davor, die 3A aufgrund des Knopfes zurückzugeben, dachte aber, dass ich sie vielleicht ganz entfernen würde. Irgendwelche Gedanken?

shafi_22 Nothing don’t sell a 3a without the button or I’d have got that.

I like the OS and Glyphs… no other phone has those. Shame Carl insists we HAVE to have a screenshot button and can’t use it for anything else natively

As I said, I was not aware of this when I decided to buy it.
Anytime you do something on the phone or in a hurry, accidental press of this button is inevitable since it is located right where the thumb (right hand) or middle and index fingers (left hand) grip the phone and the button just needs a slight touch to activate it.
I wanted to go with a phone that has a refreshing look and went for it…none of the review videos talked/mentioned about this shitty button that gets triggered easily during use.

I have disabled and remapped it to turn on/off the flashlight already though.

LaidbackGam3r I’ve literally got the phone, using it now. You spend a fortnight miss pressing the button, then muscle memory develops and it stops.

Hello, how can I deactivate the essential key?

I often press it by mistake (instead of power off) and don’t need it!

My universal smartphone holder for bike also presses this annoying button…

It works! The Essential Space is deleted and the Essential Key doesn’t do anything more 👍️

Lumoti I’ve done this with my case, now it’s perfect in terms of usability. I just cut the button flat on the case and now it’s impossible to press on accident.

I can understand a company’s (business) intention with pushing it’s AI features with a dedicated button, but for the 3a the button is placed terribly. Plus as a industrial designer myself, for a company focusing on differentiating trough usability I think not having the option to remap the button is short sited to say the least.

Completely agree with everything you said. The main reason I did the cut out trick is because I couldn’t put it in my car phone holder because it clamped where the button is located.

I read threads like this and feel like I am alone - I think I accidentally pressed it once, and now it’s fine and I haven’t pressed it by accident since?

It’s a little bit low on the frame for my tripod mount/clamp mount but it’s surmountable (ho ho no pun intended)

Smii same. After a day it wasn’t and issue. Maybe people have small hands and struggle to hold the phone?

Apologies for sharing my sour experience alone here, I had a bizzare experience managing my car, cellphone map and then not to spam essential space in my new nothing phone (3a). I had to fix the phone to a cellphone holder on my car windshield and since the essential space button has a close proximity to the centre of the side panel, more often than not I found the phone getting busy in filling up the essential space. I was thinking if we could have an option via software update where we can disable the button so that it stops taking screenshots. The other option that was available to me was to fix the phone at the end of its side panel, even though I wasn’t comfortable doing so as it may fall off at a bump and i would have been unnecessarily distracted.

duke_das Yea man, the upper part of phone has volume buttons and the lower part has the essential key, so the phone holders will be pressing one or the other button.

I would suggest buying a magsafe case and mount for your car and mobile…

The essential button and the essential space is pretty much a gimmick for me . I don’t personally use it and don’t see any practical use for it. But accidental captures are very common. Developers should add a disable option for the key or add other functions to it like pressing it turns on torch or turns on dnd mode or something like that

Glad to see I’m not the only one frustrated with this button, I don’t mind having it, would just be 3 million times better above the power button.

Am awaiting a case to arrive ao I’ll probably try trimming out the button and seeing if that helps, otherwise I’ll have to give the remap thing a go. Am also getting.agsafe stuff so that will solve the phone holder issue…but yeah not very well thought out, phone is cool though other than that.
