So the problem was one of the charging prongs for the left earphone was stuck depressed. There was still enough contact protruding to make a very weak and intermittent connection. This is why it wouldn’t disconnect and then ran out of power and could not connect.
Also, the case won’t go into pairing mode if both earphones aren’t connected with ample charge. What threw me off is that removing and replacing the left earphone was still triggering the light on the case, so it was connecting, just not well enough to charge.
I used a SIM tool, a Q-tip, some rubbing alcohol and eventually some tweezers to extract the stuck prong. Now the connection is good, and I could repair the case and earphones.
Glad I was able to fix it, but definitely some improvements can be made on the next version of this product.
Individual lights for each earphone would be very helpful.
A charge indicator on the case itself would be great.
Shorten the recession for the prongs so they cannot sink flush with the case and can be extracted and cleaned.
And of course, wireless charging. (I knew this before I purchased, but still would be nice on the next version)
