The creators of Grapheneos say that they work with some smartphone producer and next year the phone with built -in Grapheneos should appear. They don’t say who it could be. But they say that companies such as fairphone do not meet their security requirements. I would love to come back to Graphene but I can’t use pixels because of the screen flickering. Even the 10 series cruelly flicker. I use Nothingos since 1.5 years and try to reconcile utility and privacy. I remove all Google applications by ADB except GMS and GSF and the Play Store. It replaces them with FOSS applications. GMS and GSF need some applications.

Anonymous931 thanks for the response. Unfortunately this is only a portion of the issue for us. im tracked Just by talking near my phone, getting emails through gmail, paying for stuff, and so on. I use a VPN and private DNS but that doesn’t solve all the tracking with the phone backend and hardware id. GrapheneOS solves this issue because it doesn’t have googles spyware baked in.

New android phones will be even harder to make private with side loading removed.

In Australia politicians used data brokers to send emails to us with our names included. We never gave out these details yet every single person had an email addressed. I recently did a subject at uni in cyber security and it was quite a wake up call to how many ways Google turns our data into cash. The eu and US have some laws to address this but not Australia unfortunately

I don’t like pixel hardware so this would definitely be something I would buy at launch! I think we all need to write nothing support about this. The more we talk about it, the more likely this becomes a reality.

I would love something like this, I have been looking for a new alternative to my S23 for a while now and im stuck between a pixel for graphene and a nothing phone for the design and hardware, A graphene Nothing Phone would honestly be a perfect combo between the two, combining the amazing design language of Nothing and the security of GrapheneOS

A few days after GrapheneOS Foundation and Motorola announced their partnership, I think it would be a great move if Carl Pei and the team at Nothing also started discussions with the GrapheneOS developers, especially with the upcoming restrictions that Google may implement this September if things go in a bad direction.

This does not necessarily have to happen for this year’s Nothing Phone (4) or Nothing Phone (4a) Pro. It could also be considered for a future release such as the next flagship iteration of the Nothing Phone (4). What matters most is giving users the option to install an alternative ROM like GrapheneOS for a more privacy-focused Android experience. For that to happen, both Nothing and the GrapheneOS team would need to discuss the hardware and security requirements necessary for the device to properly support it.

If Nothing decided to pursue something like this, it could significantly improve the brand’s reputation as a company that values user privacy and security. It could also help the brand regain the support of enthusiasts. With companies like Samsung increasingly locking down bootloaders on their flagship devices, the direction the industry is heading in is honestly concerning.

Take Nothing OS and put it over GrapheneOS?! It would be a dream come true! Here in the US, surveillance and data collection is completely out of control and completely unchecked.

Just being up front; I do not do anything illegal, illicit, or unsavory. I simply believe it is my right to not have every ounce of what I do sold to the highest bidder. Government watching me is only going to yield diabetic recipes, trip plans, and the retro-gaming communities I frequent. So, have at it!

Companies have been making money off our online presence for decades now, and it has gone too far.

GrapheneOS give people the ability to take back that control and stop the violation of the privacy of honest, hard-working, and law abiding citizens. Think about it - Google Pixel 10 Pro XL, base model - $1199.99 USD. Yet despite spending that amount of money, you data is still harvested, used to train AI, and sold to data brokers - that is insane. If I spent that amount of money, give me my privacy! Oh, and Apple users out there? Privacy is an illusion - they do the same damn thing and claim you are safe with them. It’s all smoke and mirrors.

I have GrapheneOS on my Pixel Tablet and it runs faster than stock Android, and I also subscribe to Proton’s services annually. Put NothingOS on top of GrapheneOS? That will be a lean mean privacy machine that is a complete delight to use and full reassurance for users that their privacy is in fact as intact as humanly possible!

I say go for it, Nothing! You need to be profitable? You would sell more units than you can currently produce!

Mohd_Isham I’d offer that anyone interested in a privacy focused OS should already have a strong distrust of ‘banking apps’. Historically, banking apps are less secure than just visiting the website in your device’s browser.

Privacy is about minimizing hands in the cookie jar. That goes for every app you use too.

I would be 100% interested, especially if it comes without all the AI garbage Nothing is putting in OS updates without any way of opt-in or opt-out. I’m terribly disappointed with Nothing, they totally mislead me to buying a phone.

The GrapheneOS developers will only consider the devices with the most secure hardware. That used to be Pixel, but due to Google’s plans with Android the developers feel they have no option but to start building their own devices. It’s recently been announced that Motorola are going to be building Graphene devices. 😔 It’s unlikely they will develop for Nothing until their hardware is as secure or offers similar features, such as a switch that physically disconnects the camera and microphone.
