Let me start by saying: I’m a huge fan of Nothing. I’ve followed the company closely since day one. I’ve bought every pair of Ear buds and owned every Nothing Phone, except for the A-series, simply because I already had the Phone (2).
When I heard the Phone (3) was coming this year, I was genuinely excited. I hoped for something that would build on the Phone (2) and take things to the next level. Unfortunately, my excitement took its first hit when the initial announcements came out and I saw that the Glyph Interface was removed. That feature wasn’t just a gimmick. It was part of Nothing’s identity. Even though some things promised with the Phone (1) never fully materialized, I always believed that it was the little details that made Nothing stand out.
Then came the launch event. After two years of waiting, we got a 10-minute presentation that felt rushed and uninspired. That’s not the Nothing I know. In the past, every product announcement was full of care, creativity, and personality. Ironically, the A-series was presented with more love and impact than the new flagship, which doesn’t sit right with me.
And now to the design. I have to be honest: it no longer turns heads the way it used to. The first impression is… underwhelming. The asymmetrical camera layout and the lack of visible internal design details make it feel like a step back. Sure, industrial design doesn’t have to be beautiful. But that’s what Nothing used to get so right: turning raw tech into something visually striking.
To be fair, I think Nothing did a solid job on the hardware side. It might not have the most powerful processor, but as Carl rightly said, performance isn’t everything. What truly matters is the harmony between all components hardware, software, and design. And over the years, Nothing has consistently proven that they understand how to create that balance better than most.
But design-wise? I think they’ve lost a bit of what made them special. Maybe it’s just a new direction. Maybe it’s a one-off. But I truly hope Nothing finds its boldness again. The small, iconic touches matter. And they’re what made us fall in love with this brand in the first place.
