Just bought the Phone 3a without doing research for one of my niche use cases: being able to show the carrier name on the status bar, so this is entirely my fault.
The only reason why I would need it is because said carrier name is used as a proof of being a certain kind of postpaid user, e.g. showing the carrier name to access an airport lounge.
