Hey, really appreciate you taking the time to write this. You’ve made some great points, especially about ROM support and how it can keep a phone alive for years — I hadn’t fully considered that before, so thanks for sharing your perspective.
I also wanted to add to your point about pricing and units. Personally, I think £700 would have been a good price for the Phone (3) and honestly that’s a tempting price for me but I know they need to up their margins but in that price range I think it’s great but I think it when it goes on sale it’s going to be a great phone to pick up especially for the design
. I don’t think Nothing needed to label it as a “flagship” — just release the phone, let it speak for itself, and keep expectations realistic. I feel that might have worked better.
You also made me realise that with Nothing, it’s not just about specs vs price anymore; it’s specs, price, and design, and everyone values these differently. “How much does design cost?” is a fair question, and for some people, that value is worth it, especially if they want something different from the usual.
Honestly, talking with people here and reading replies like yours has taught me a lot. I see now that the Phone (3) makes sense for some people, especially if they care about design and the Nothing OS experience, and that’s fair. So thank you for sharing your insight.
I also realise I didn’t express myself as clearly in my first post compared to what I’ve learned through these conversations, and that’s the beautiful thing about this community. I’m always open to admitting when I’m wrong, and I appreciate that Nothing has built a space where we can have these discussions, even if we don’t all agree.
That’s also why, if I’m going to post something, I feel it’s important to stick around and respond to people. It’s easy to post and walk away, but being open-minded and hearing different viewpoints matters, even if the conversation gets a bit heated. You never know what you might learn, and it helps all of us see things from different angles.
That’s why it’s tough when Nothing sometimes comes across as less open in certain videos — it can feel like they’re becoming more like Apple in how they handle messaging. But when they’re transparent, that’s when I enjoy supporting them the most. I think these conversations, even when we disagree, can help Nothing grow into a brand that truly challenges Apple, Samsung, and Google while staying true to what makes them different.
At the end of the day, I just want people to have more choices, and for people who want something different, Nothing can be that option. Not everyone wants an iPhone or Samsung, and that’s okay. But I also want Nothing to grow into a big name, and that’s why I make these posts. I want to see them do well. I genuinely like their products and haven’t seen design like this in years, so it’s exciting to watch.
I also think with a young brand like Nothing, it’s good that the community feels encouraged to voice what they like and dislike. Thanks again for taking the time to share your thoughts — I really appreciate it, and it’s helped me understand things from a different angle, especially since we both come from similar phones.
Thanks 👍🏽
