CMF1_hacker I use two phone my primary phone is 16 pro and secondary nothing 3a cause I am a doctor and I have many notes to write i use iPhone to sync books and research papers with my ipad

I use Android for emulation so that I can play Pokemon titles that were a part of my childhood

Anonymous996 sorry, I find the iPhones not so good for academic work (medic and a professor in UK). I find Ubuntu/macOS/android the best combo. That’s where the NP3 slots in.

Over time, my opinion has shifted, and I’ve realised there were a lot of questions I didn’t fully think through before.

For example, I used to be really against the Phone (3)’s price, but I’ve been asking myself: if the Phone (3) had launched at £850 but with upgraded flagship specs, would that have been a good phone? In my opinion, yes—I think I would have seen that as a fair, exciting product, especially if the design, software, and long-term experience matched the price.

The second question I keep coming back to is: how much does design actually matter when pricing a phone? We talk a lot about specs and software, but design is a big part of Nothing’s identity. I’m curious, how much extra are people truly willing to pay for a unique design that feels different from everything else?

These are the questions I’m asking myself now. I don’t have all the answers, but I think it’s good for us as a community to think about them openly, rather than just saying “too expensive” or “specs matter more.” Because for some people, design is worth paying more for, and for others, it isn’t—and that’s okay.

Camera is a weak point in video they said themselves and Gorilla Glass 7i , USB gen2 , No ultrasonic fingerprint scanner , LTPS Display doesn’t justify the price

Jaheim2 I would pay flagship prices or more for an actual flagship from nothing if it commanded the price tag they were asking for it. Phone 3 doesn’t, That’s glossing over the design completely but I digress.

For me, specs matter quite a bit, especially since I tend to keep my phones for a long time — usually 4 to 6 years. Having a better CPU and a higher-quality display at this price point would make more sense, even if the phone has a unique design.

I definitely appreciate what Nothing is doing with design, but at £799, calling it a flagship without including those little premium details feels off to me. Those small details are what really make a flagship feel premium, and I’m not sure the trade-offs here are worth it in the long run. I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately.

Honestly, if the Phone (3) came in at £850 but included upgrades like a better CPU, higher-quality display, and faster charging, it would feel much more enticing. At that price, you’d get the unique design alongside specs that truly match, making it a proper long-term flagship worth keeping for years.

That said, if the Phone (3) in its current form had launched at £700, I think it would have been a good phone for the price, and the conversation around it would be very different.

@“Vaibhav-j”#p191814 Poco F7 gets fairy hot but that phone likely has a larger vapor chamber. And for its battery size pretty average battery life, Which is basically just because of bad inherent power efficiency.

Anonymous996 Failures are likely because of substandard solder or like I said unmanaged temps also I believe I replied on the wrong thread. I had a k20 pro before however that still runs fine to this day never had issues. Xiaomi’s quality control issues might be on their cheaper models, or the ones produced in india. This is anecdotal but I’m pretty sure most phones that are produced in assembly lines in india aren’t up to par with their chinese or Vietnamese assembly lines.

CMF1_hacker man you are one of the coolest guys on this community but you slowly shifting. From I support Nothing category, to the I’m glazing Nothing category based on your recent post, specs dont matter when the specs are slightly shorter then that of market my phone 2a is the best for me my friend has a oneplus device same pricepoint but better specs when I used it I didn’t like it due to the boring software , but again that was because the specs were slightly weaker then the competion nothing is selling a clear device that shouldn’t be called flagship in terms of specs it doesn’t even comes close in terms of specs vs competitors like the previous generation device

If I’m a purchasing phone for design and specs had a minor downgrade no issue ltps soc don’t matter much but then you device heats camera downgrared its like

3a pro is way better in terms of balancing compared to 3 no way you can justify design covering up for specs downgrade at the current price

You will disagree i am ok with that because that’s a general user if the person wants a device for it software it shouldn’t come at the cost of major hardware downgrade ✌️

pixcel25 I must admit I had to look up glazing lol, I’m that old.

I think that people want to spend their money well, I know I do and I do see the downgrade of spec a big deal if you want to squeeze every penny as far as it will go.

I was just at a playdate with some other parents and they’re quite excited about the NP3 as it was just reviewed by the Guardian and they asked what I thought.

Cameras were great and the parents played with it and shot photos of the kids. And the GM, spin the bottle was fun (we decided to have some Gin and Tonics to test it, if the bottle stopped on you.)

They feel the capacitive button on the back is kinda iffy but everyone said the screen is great and the camera stellar.

I complained up the overheating issue under real stress (running at 100% for 20 mins) and we started discussing GPUs and ML/AI and talked about ES and data privacy and information control.

Interesting to get people’s take on it. Tried the action mode with the kids running around.

They’re quite impressed with NOS being black and while only and my simple homescreen.

I stressed that there’s one big issue for UK/EU/NA users that I haven’t revealed here yet ok the forum but will if it’s not fixed in the next update. (July update.)

Parents are very busy and the camera usually is the main driver of sales. They were shocked with the restart speed of the phone and try to super test it to see that last gen SoC use and just said yeah, ok, doesn’t matter while we were finishing the GTs.

It’s a nice piece of hardware but still is very pricey in this config (£900), which is very hard to justify. (Parents always say that as nursery is £1200-1500/month/child). That led into a discussion about women leaving the workforce or working part time.

Edit: about to give this phone a real world brightness test with my sunnies on.
