I ended up doing a factory reset on the phone and, so far, the Essential Notifications have been working fine for 5 days. That said, there are still many bugs when creating rules — apps get added without selecting them, sometimes changes aren’t saved… they really need to review and improve this a lot.
On another note, the selection of generative sound type still doesn’t work, even after the factory reset and updating the system.
EDIT: 31/07:
After several days without any issues, Essential Notifications have started failing again. But this time, I figured out what’s going on! And while I was at it, I found another possible bug?
Why did they start failing again? It turns out it’s due to what another user mentioned here before: it doesn’t handle overlapping rules well. The issue is that I DIDN’T MODIFY ANYTHING — one of the rules changed on its own and ended up overlapping. If a contact is included in two different places, it’s likely to cause a conflict and no icon shows up in the Glyph Matrix.
That said, we have a Do Not Disturb mode for the phone and another one for the Glyph Matrix. I noticed that if the phone’s DND mode is active, the Glyph Matrix one doesn’t work either. I don’t think it should be affected by it, right? After all, each has its own separate “Do Not Disturb” toggle, no?
