I about 4 months ago I made the switch from iPhone to the Light Phone, mainly to disconnect from doom scrolling and to manage my time better, to remember what it was like to be fully present.
Although, seeing the Nothing phone is enticing me to get a phone, I mainly love the design and the interface from the videos I’ve seen looks beautiful to navigate.
But… I do enjoy being disconnected. Sure I could modify it so I don’t have apps, but how easy would it be to just bypass it, which is why I switched to the Light Phone.
The point I’m slowly working toward is that I would love for Nothing to create a dumb phone that is better than the Light Phone for a cheaper price.
I hope someone sees this, rather than launching a flagship phone which I saw is being skipped this year. It would be wonderful to see a launch of a dumb phone, marketed towards creatives, people who value their time, attention, energy, focus. Than adding to the phone what the Light Phone lacks, such as the option to stream music, or access different messaging apps like Signal, the use of Google Maps, and so much more.
Although if that never happens that’s okay, when I do decide to jump back to a smart phone I probably will get the Nothing.
