I can confirm that the Nothing Phone (3) does not currently have this feature enabled.
From what I understand, enabling it should be possible by setting the following Android system flags to true:
- ‘bluetooth.profile.bap.broadcast.assist.enabled’
- ‘bluetooth.profile.bap.broadcast.source.enabled’
These flags are part of the Bluetooth LE Audio Basic Audio Profile (BAP), introduced with Bluetooth 5.2 and enhanced in later versions (including Bluetooth 6.0, which the Nothing Phone 3 supports).
They allow the phone to act as a broadcast source and broadcast assistant — meaning it can send perfectly synchronized audio to multiple receivers at once, using the new Auracast standard.
This is not the same as Samsung’s “Dual Audio” feature, which uses classic Bluetooth A2DP and is limited to two devices.
BLE Audio Broadcast:
- Works with an unlimited number of compatible receivers (practically limited by signal conditions)
- Uses the LC3 codec for high audio quality and lower latency
- Keeps all receivers perfectly in sync
- Supports up to 48 kHz / 24-bit audio
- Can dynamically lower bitrate for stability with larger groups
Beyond personal convenience, enabling this feature would be a major accessibility boost for people with hearing impairments, allowing them to connect multiple hearing aids or assistive listening devices directly to the phone’s broadcast.
This could also serve as a unique selling point for the Nothing Phone line, differentiating it in a crowded smartphone market with a cutting-edge Bluetooth audio feature that benefits everyone.
Personally, I would love to see Nothing enable this. My ideal use case would be broadcasting to 2–5 devices without noticeable latency and with lossless-like high-resolution audio. For more than 5 devices, I’d be fine with reduced audio quality to maintain stability.
Auracast is one of the most exciting additions to Bluetooth in years, and enabling it would make the Nothing Phone (3) stand out even more. I hope Nothing will consider adding support in a future update.
