Nothing support has been refusing to acknowledge this as a software issue, and has only offered sending to repair center for inspection at my own cost. (I also requested an estimate for such service, but was not given a solid answer.) I decided against sending my phone in to be charged an unknown amount only to be told there is nothing wrong with the hardware.
I sent in all the required logs and screen recordings, and was willing to work with Nothing engineering team on resolving this bug. When inquired if the issue was being worked on by anyone, the question was quietly ignored. In the meantime, I have been repeated told to factory reset my phone even after showing them this thread of people having a similar issue starting around the same time.
In the interim, if you are stuck with this phone, I have found a work around that can temporarily restore function:
- Turn on Developer Options
- Toggle on “Enable Wi-Fi Verbose Logging”
- Toggle off “Wi-Fi Scan Throttling”
- Turn off WiFi from the swipe down menu (not from settings menu) as it is able to actually keep it off
- Power off the Nothing Phone (2) for a few minutes
- Turn on the phone, and check if WiFi is able to scan and connect. If not, repeat the last two steps)
Following this odd ritual, I was able to get Wi-Fi working again, often after multiple tries. Once connected, the developer options can be reverted without losing the effect. However, it is crucial not to turn off Wi-Fi once it is working, or the bug may return.
I have given up trying to get support for this issue. I bought into the Nothing ecosystem early on hoping for what it could become. However, with the lack of support on bugs, or even just software maintenance on the main selling point the Glyph feature, I have completely lost confidence in the company.
