First time I've had a false ES button press

I can understand how this can be infuriating but demanding NOTHING ® to remap the button is somewhat strange or? The is my first false ES button press in a month or so:

I’m really frustrated with my Nothing Phone 3a. The Essential button gets clicked by mistake so many times every day, and it’s honestly annoying. I don’t understand why it’s only limited to opening Essential Space. It would be much better if Nothing allowed us to customize it for different functions, or at least gave an option to completely turn it of

sunnysingh_AEBfxi1IBA I think they’re saving the remapping for when they deem ES to be out of beta, alpha, testing or whatever. OnePlus has a very similar feature, but as an established company with a lot of employees and diverse revenue sources they can afford to let people remap the button. Nothing, on the other hand, is probably planning to monetize the Essential Space. So they want to get people hooked before giving people the option to remap the Essential Key. That’s my hypothesis anyway, I could be completely wrong

well i have met 3 3a users irl , everyone told they don’t use ES , the hype of ES is limited to the community.
remapping it should be option. just because one doesn’t have a issue doesn’t mean no one goes through it

pixcel25 I use the flip2record and can’t understand why anyone wouldn’t use it unless they don’t often talk with others?

CMF1_hacker since not everyone has to attend meetings , plus its privacy invasion to record stuff for informal greetings so.

pixcel25 yeah, my use case is probably atypical. I have a lot of people record me, especially if they’re ESL as there’s a lot of technical content. For that’s it’s been very useful and people greatly enjoy the summaries.

themountofmint Yeah true, everyone’s experience is different. But in my case, even after weeks of use I’m still facing accidental clicks almost daily. That’s why I really feel Nothing should give us the option to either customize the button for other functions or just disable it completely. Would make it a lot more practical for people like me

I use it as a notebook and reminder. I find it useful, but not a killer-feature. It definitely needs an improvement. Lock screen wigdet is cool btw
