Hey community,

The latest Nothing OS update for Phone (3) is here! It’s packed with new Glyph features and a brand new Camera Preset. Here’s a quick look at everything that’s new.

Glyph Interface

Two new Glyph Toys: Meet Compass 🧭, a toy that points you in the right direction, and Feed the Fly 🪰, a tiny game to test your reflexes.
Glyph Mirror upgrade: You can now enable Glyph Mirror in the Nothing Camera app when using any rear camera lens. Swipe down on the viewfinder to access the toggle.

Camera Enhancements

‘Stretch’ Preset: We’ve collaborated with the incredible photographer Jordan Hemingway to bring his signature look to your Camera app. This new preset adds rich shadows and extended highlights for a bold, artistic feel.
General improvements: We’ve also enhanced the camera with better responsiveness, reduced shutter lag, and improved colour consistency across the board.

Improvements & Fixes

General system stability and Wi-Fi reliability have been improved.
The September 2025 security patch is now included.

How to get the update

To update your phone, just go to Settings > System > System updates and tap Download and Install.

The rollout is staged, so it may take a few days to reach everyone. Thanks for your patience!

Some very nice additions in this update!

I like the compass, it’s very responsive and works really well on the matrix.

Seeing further collaborations for the presets is really cool, I’ve had a lot of fun testing out the existing and community made ones.

The fly game takes a bit of practice initially but I’m getting quicker at it. There is a time limit which will limit the high scores so speed it’s absolutely a factor. Managed to get a score of 24 🪰

Nothing here for the NP3 in the UK yet, but looking forward to it.

Nice, I just got the update here in Germany and looking forward to it!

But please in regards of the Glyph Matrix:

Please consider bringing back the Glyph Timer which has been present on previous Phones like Phone (2), it was such a handy feature for me which I actually used multiple times per day. In fact I was very disappointed seeing it got completely axed with Phone (3) and the new Glyph Matrix, I thought the Timer would at least have been adjusted to work with the new system.

I already submitted a lengthy feedback post and keep crossing fingers I will one day again be able to quickly set a visible timer easily right from the quick settings. 🫠

want nothing os feeling like Pixel has done with Android 16. It is elegant. I want to add some font styles like Samsung. There is still an optimisation problem in the 3.2 version on nothing 3a. Can you provide the Android 16 timeline for every device?

Nothing Phone 3 user here. Nice update! But I’ve got one more issue with the camera. The app tends to overexpose the shots (to my taste at least). It’d be great to have a persistent exposure compensation setting so that one doesn’t need to lower the exposure every time a shot’s taken.

TsuTsen_Tsutsenyonok_ my daughter at 6yo just snapped this walking by the Radcliffe Camera and with auto HDR (she uses all the auto settings while we work on composition and zooming), I think the auto AF/AE did a decent job as the sun just came out. She needs to submit a portfolio of photos from the summer.

Also, inside of a dark pub for breakfast even the 0808 update does ok with AE/AF in our opinion

TsuTsen_Tsutsenyonok_ Yeah, most of the time it’s decent, but sometimes I do feel it’s abit inconsistent during low light/darker scenes, the colour will be slightly different, sometimes over exposed in the region that has lights, and it’ll make the region too bright

I was having hotpot dinner with my friends, I tried to take picture of the meat. The room is actually a bit dark, just some lighting in the middle room ceiling. I took 3 times of the same pic and the results are as below, abit inconsistent

Sounds fun.

But I don’t understand one thing. Carl, in all his interviews or anywhere he brings up Glyph Matrix, he specifically mentions, Glyph Matrix is made so that people “don’t go doom scrolling” or “unintentionally use there phone” while checking any notifications. which ultimately serves the purpose of using your phone less, which Nothing always pushed as one of their priorities. But here we are making toys and games using Glyph Matrix which defeats the purpose of “using your phone less” or phone being “the bicycle of your brain” things.

Is it due to some miscommunication between the software team and Carl or is it just me who got it all wrong?

I think the important part here is that Nothing does offer and incentivise a lot of ways to spend less time on your phone, even just the monochrome theme has success in that.

I would argue that the Glyph Matrix still achieves that even with the addition of extra toys. Checking a notification or playing a quick simple game for a minute on the Glyph Matrix and then putting it down again is not comparable at all to spending time on the main screen. So yes it absolutely isn’t doom scrolling.

Then we just have to accept that ultimately there are some people who just want or need to use their phone a lot, I’m guilty of that sometimes, but at least the tools and incentives are there.

Derren I agree with your argument. I myself love that Nothing does all these things, when most other phone companies don’t even bring this issue up at all.

My pet peeve is that the emphasis vs effect is heavily skewed towards just emphasis. Nothing’s still relatively new and small so I can wait for a while to see if the offset is balanced or skewed the opposite.

Beside what Derren said, I think it’s also important to note that another thing that Carl says often, is that Nothing are trying to make tech fun again and these glyph toys do seem pretty fun.

This is what tech should feel like, and nothing actually listens! This is what I asked for - Add support for capturing images using the volume button while using the view finder on the Glyph Matrix. And guess what, they actually did it!
