Dhruv21Kaushik I’ve been a Mac user for over twenty years and I had the iPhone from the OG through to iPhone 5s. I made the switch to Android in 2014 with the 1+1 and I’ve had Nothing phones since the Phone (1) in 2022.
The biggest issue I had with using an Android phone was that Apple basically block you from tethering your phone as a network device. However you can get around this by using the HoRNDIS kext created by Joshua Wise which will enable you use the native Android USB tethering to get internet access.
Next up, Beeper. I’ve used Beeper since it was invite only and it will allow you to message both from your Mac and Android device as well as including support for WhatsApp, Discord, Slack, FB Messenger, X, Instagram, Signal, Telegram and more all from a single app. You could (and possible still can) even get it use iMessage on Android allowing you to send messages with “blue bubbles” from Android to iOS, though I never bothered to try.
QuickDrop for your Mac is an essential tool, it will enable you to use Android’s quick share feature and have it work like AirDrop on an iPhone. Your Mac will just show up as a QuickShare location and you can just send the file straight to whatever destination folder you set-up in the QuickDrop app.
I use RealVNC on my Android to connect to macOS remotely for screen sharing / remote desktop which is pretty straightforward and Macdroid for file browsing my Android device using the Mac Finder, which I’ve found myself needing to do less and less over the years.
