I am not a native English speaker, so I am using Claude to translate this. I apologize for any awkwardness.
After updating to 4.0, I noticed that the volume has become excessively loud as mentioned in the title. When I checked with ViPER4Android, it shows the volume has increased by approximately 16dB.
During normal playback, this isn’t a major issue since I can reduce the volume using ViPER4Android. However, significant problems occur during calls. (Since alarm volumes have also increased, I suspect some adjustments were made to the audio drivers.)
For example, when I’m on a Discord call, whenever someone speaks, their voice has considerable noise in my environment for some reason (I haven’t been able to verify whether this issue is with the Nothing Phone, Android, or the Apple cable). Due to the increased volume, I adjust the volume lower on Discord’s side. However, only the actual voice becomes quieter while the noise remains at the same loud level, resulting in a call that’s full of noise.
Additionally, the join/leave notification sounds don’t change in volume either, so sometimes they assault my ears. This is quite unpleasant. Of course, I have the call volume on the Android side set to minimum.
I’ve heard that smartphones with Dimensity SoCs have a setting to change the output volume per volume step, but this doesn’t exist on the Nothing Phone (2a). Just as the issue with Flutter apps defaulting to 60Hz was resolved in 4.0, I hope this problem will also be fixed in a future version.
