While connecting the Phone 3a Pro using wired android auto to my car (Skoda Kushaq) i get an error saying “Connection with VOLCANO-QRD_SN: failed”
The car’s infotainment system keeps misidentifying the phone as volcano. This has been happening consistently and it’s a real bummer since i heavily rely on Android Auto for navigation, music and calls during my drives.
I’ve scoured forums, Reddit and official support threads, and I’ve tried every suggested workaround I could find, but nothing has resolved it.
Here’s a quick rundown of what i have attempted (with phone and car restarts after each step):
- Updates Checked: Ensured Phone is on the latest Nothing OS currently 3.2 as of October 2025 and Android auto app from the playstore.
- Cables: I have tried different C-C cables including the Nothing one which comes in the box, which works with other phones instantly but not the Phone 3a pro
- Reset and Reconfigure: Cleared cache and data for the Android Auto, force-stopped the app, Uninstalled/Reinstalled updates, reset car’s infotainment to factory defaults
- USB Debugging Enabled: Unlocked Developer Options and turned on USB Debugging didn’t fix the connection
- Permissions: Granted all permissions and even tested with a different phone which worked find so it’s not the car or the cable.
Despite all this, the error persists. To help the Engineering team diagnose and hopefully push out a fix ASAP, I’m willing to provide logs, bug report and screen recording.
I’m happy to provide more details or test and beta fixes if needed. Has anyone else found a breakthrough workaround I might have missed?
This seems like a compatibility glitch that affects multiples Users and a software patch could make a huge difference.
Thanks in advance for any help or updates!
