I’m on the fence. If I can disable and ensure that no data is transfer, then I don’t care. However, there are several companies out there that transfer your data to third-parties regardless of not using options. For example, I’m not convinced that I could remove all Google software from NOTHING OS and not have my data transferred to Google.
I am OK with this as Google provides useful software.
The key question with the not-enabled-by-default option is can I prevent my data from being transferred. That’s the crux of the argument. For all the belly-aching here, no one has posted the actual T&C’s they agreed to and didn’t agree to. Nor has anyone monitored network transfer to these third-parties and whether it really is disabled when not using the software.
I personally like NOS, so I don’t care that much and I speculate that NTL has to do this as part of accepting the 200MM, so I’m onboard.
Essentially, I believe without doing this, NTL would cease to exist.
