Hi,
I’m Gitaansh, an Indian student currently pursuing a B. Tech in Computer Science and Engineering. I’ve always been passionate about technology and software—constantly exploring ways to customize and optimize all my devices for better performance and usability. As a Nothing phone user, I truly appreciate the clean interface, smooth animations, and especially the unique Glyph features. That said, I’d like to share some suggestions that could improve the overall user experience and help Nothing stand out further.
Essential Suggestions
1. Double Tap to Sleep on Lock Screen: This currently only works on the home screen. Extending it to the lock screen would make the experience more intuitive.
2. Battery Health Options: Please add a slow charging option, and allow both smart charging and custom charging limit (cap at a certain percent) to be active at the same time for better battery care.
3. One-Handed Mode: The gesture to pull down the navigation bar doesn’t work on apps. Allowing it to work on pages without scrolling or at the top would be very useful.
4. Flip to Glyph: Add an option to turn on Glyph lighting only when the phone is flipped face down, and keep it off otherwise. Currently, the flip gesture only works if Glyph is already on.
5. Camera UI and Controls: Make the interface more customizable—add quick toggles for storing RAW/compressed images, allow reordering of camera modes, and avoid hiding controls behind the down arrow when there’s space for visible options.
6. Shake Gestures: Add gestures like shaking the phone to toggle flashlight, Glyph, or other quick settings.
Optional Suggestions
1. AI Wallpaper Customization: Add primary and secondary color selection for the AI wallpaper generator.
2. AI Button: Allow the AI button to be reprogrammable for functions like single tap to mute or vibrate.
3. Screen-Off Gestures: Add simple gestures like <, >, ||, or symbols to control media playback when the screen is off.
In addition, improving widget flexibility would be a welcome change—not all users prefer the minimalist style, and a few more traditional or functional widget options would be helpful. Also, ensuring consistent UI responsiveness, polishing touch interactions, and maintaining stability during multitasking will enhance the software’s reliability. I also encourage you to continue promoting and improving open-source contributions to Nothing OS—it has great potential and community involvement would help it grow even stronger. I chose a nothing phone because it has a personality that most brands don’t, the thing I love the most about nothing is the creative customisation and optimization features that have no limit.
