So… after installing the official stable release of Nothing OS 4.0, I went in expecting at least a few noticeable upgrades over the beta. You know—those last-minute refinements that justify the “stable” label.
But honestly?
The differences are basically cosmetic. And extremely minimal.
What Actually Changed?
The most visible change is the status bar redesign.
That’s it.
Nothing else really stands out as a meaningful improvement over the beta build.
No new animations.
No extra refinements.
No expanded features.
Just the status bar.
Extra Dark Mode? Same Limitations as the Beta
One thing I was hoping they’d expand was Extra Dark Mode.
In the beta, it only applied to a few parts of the UI, and the rest of the system stayed bright as if the feature didn’t exist.
Well… the stable version behaves exactly the same.
Extra Dark Mode still doesn’t apply across the full software experience. It’s inconsistent, and it feels unfinished—just like in the beta.
Final Thoughts
The stable release feels more like “Beta Build 3” with a fresh label. If you were waiting for major fixes, UI polish, or expanded feature support beyond the beta, you’re not going to find it here.
The foundation of Nothing OS 4 is good—but the stable build doesn’t bring the upgrades many of us expected.
