Hallo zusammen. Ich weiß, dass die Idee einer Community-Store-App schon lange diskutiert wurde und einige sogar Interesse gezeigt haben. Nothing hatte in einem ihrer Videos auch ein Konzept hervorgehoben. Nun würde man fragen, WARUM? Der Google Playstore ist in vielerlei Hinsicht gut: Reichweite, Statistiken usw. Wenn es jedoch um die tatsächliche Glaubwürdigkeit der App geht, wird sie durch die Troll-Rezensionen ruiniert, die keinen Mehrwert für die Arbeit oder Leidenschaft des Entwicklers in das Projekt darstellen. Ein Beispiel hierfür ist N Dial. Es gibt extreme Bewertungen zwischen 1 und 5. Und die meisten Einsen sind nur zufällige Kommentare. Um dies und viele andere Apps da draußen zu vermeiden, scheint es notwendig zu sein, einen richtigen Community-App-Store zu haben, der natürlich im Nothing-Stil ist und alle von der Community erstellten Apps, Glyph-Spielzeuge und mehr bietet. **Das kann es bieten:** 1. Community-Apps 2. Community-Glyphenspielzeug 3. Echte Bewertungen (Wenn sie gemeldet werden, können sie je nach Kontext entfernt werden) 4. Entwicklerprofil und soziale Konten 5. In App-Statistiken zur Anzeige von Downloads, Bewertungen, Wachstum usw. 6. Eine Community-orientierte, übersichtliche App wird mehr Entwickler dazu bringen, sich der Liga anzuschließen 7. Der Store könnte einen eigenen Anzeigenbereich haben, um die Reichweite der Apps zu erhöhen. Anzeigen könnten Nothing Nachrichten, neue Apps, Tweets von Carl und dem Team usw. enthalten. 8. Ein eigenständiger Nothing Hub, der sich für das wertvolle Team, das die Marke unterstützt, exklusiv und besonders anfühlt. Wir von Hearthborn Studios sind offen für die Zusammenarbeit mit allen guten Entwicklern hier in der Community. Lassen Sie uns also wissen, ob Sie dazu bereit sind oder Feedback haben oder ob es eine schlechte Idee ist. Offen für Feedback und Vorschläge. Aber meiner Meinung nach ist es eine großartige Idee, etwas speziell für die hart arbeitenden Entwickler zu haben.

Hey everyone. I know the idea of a community store app has been discussed long before and some have even shown interest. Nothing had also highlighted a concept in one of their videos. Now, one would ask WHY?

Google playstore is good in a lot of ways, the reach, stats etc. However when it comes to the actual credibility of the app its ruined by the troll reviews that adds no value to the developers work or passion he/she puts in the project. An example will be of N Dial. It has extreme reviews between just 1 and 5. And most of the 1s are just random comments. To avoid this and for many other apps out there, it seems there is a need to have a proper community app store that is ofcourse Nothing style, features all the community created apps, Glyph toys and more.

Here is what it can offer:

Community Apps
Community Glyph Toys
Genuine reviews (When reported, it can be removed based on the context)
Developer profile and social accounts
In app stats to show downloads, reviews, growth etc.
A community focused clutter free app will attract more developers to join the league
The store could have dedicated Ads section for better reach of the apps. Ads could have Nothing News, New apps, Tweets from Carl and the team etc.
A standalone Nothing Hub that feels exclusive and special for the valuable team that supports the brand.

We at Hearthborn Studios are open to collaborate with any good developers here in the community. So let us know if you are willing to, or have any feedback Or even if its a bad idea. Open to feedback and suggestions.

But IMO, its a great idea to have something dedicated for the hard working developers.

Ali Fakhruddin this is actually a great idea I been thinking of the store app for a while it seems hard to manage single handedly im down for helping as this will unlock a huge opportunity for developer to add features google wont allow us to add

Ali Fakhruddin I think it would be best to build an almost app Store/ community App. It saves cost to let the actual download part be handled by Google. I think the App should include an App section, a link to Playground for Camera Presets/ Essential Widgets and Equalizer. And have a space that sorts community projects into its own categories kinda like on discord. I think on nothing.community a lot of cool Ideas don’t get enough visibility.
I also thought about a Community Subscription. Where subscribers could get access to different Apps that cost money otherwise as well as premium functions for free apps.

Besides apps, it should feature camera presets, font, widgets, fingerprint animation, themes in future, lock screen clock face, composer compatible ringtones & more

Not to be a “Debbie downer,” but this is why I’m excited about the PLAYGROUND as it will become an App Store with QR code sharing?

It’s the entire point of NOS 4.0.

Or am I missing something?

The code already exists for sharing of widgets, camera presets, glyph toys (inside or outside the palystore), and EQ presets.

Anyone with a NP3/4.0 stable should be able to scan this with the Camera App and it will go directly to the community supplied widget from another post here:

I mean reviews and stuff could be added to PLAYGROUND, so the idea in the OP seems like massive duplication.

Glyph toys, camera presets, EQ preset and AI widgets are already covered.

CMF1_hacker Actually the OP idea was discussed long time back before i think we were introduced playground. and yes i do agree playground will serve well as a hub and potentially a better app store. Lets see. Heres the idea about it that was discussed earlier.

I understand that you might want more control or had an idea first, but that sharing via playground is fully embedded in NOS directly now, so this concept now seems like fragmentation.

Sharing community made apps is a security risk not even google can do right. Think of the thousands of apps containing malware that get exposed regularly

Nothing would definitely support a full app store if they had the resources to manually review apps, but for now playground is limited to widgets and I think that’s more than enough

code913 Nothing would not be involved at all. It would be a community project with the goal of connecting the Community and creators like developers.

Sounds like a good idea, but I also thought "do we already have an “app store” in a Playground face?". So maybe better adding more stuff to Playground in near future.

Assuming that, for example, we can’t change fonts without the root, or we can’t do many customisation tweaks like other brands do (someone wants it so hard idk even for what). I’d wanted to change the font tbh, because I have a personal brand font that I use in my work socials (that one from Google fonts collection, not personally-created). But if no — the no🤷🏼‍♀️ not a big deal.

Many people change their fonts like comic sans because it’s easier to read. A lot of old people I know with samsungs have the curvy font, which looks bizarre but they prefer it

Paul_gsk But in this technically I don’t this with general apps it will work because for Glyph Developer Kit they have API’s and for configuring they ask package names and SHA1 fingerprint keys and then they give the API. So if we add apps like GlyphNexus, Glyphify etc they might not work due to SHA1 key and everyone have give play store keys so for the phones which using Glyph Developer kit the chances of this working might be lesser. But for Glyph Matrix Developer Kit it might work as there is no API involved in that.

Vishwam That is the nice thing about such an App. You could make it more flexible than official product. Developers could choose wether they use an build in App store or redirect to Google Play.

code913 I’m gonna tell my parents they use Samsung the wrong way seems because of don’t doing this for the 5 years🙃 many people’s change because it’s just cool and remembers them an old Samsung device under the Bada OS, that’s all

The way I see it, Nothing is impossible and you need to execute it right. Playground seems to be the future for sure but this app or online store is way more than I have imagined. I am sure @Blobby can relate as I remember we had a discussion like this long time back and you also suggested to put our dialers on there with call recordings since Google doesn’t allow. A lot can be done on developers side too.

Playground does allow listing widgets, glyphs etc. but it still doesn’t have proper ratings, reviews, community interaction with developers directly. I want to create a bridge between the two. And of course if we all thought why we need a new dialer since Google exists, we wouldn’t be having N Dial or Void in the first place. Copy pasting is different than inspiration and making it a bit better in terms of functions.

Ali Fakhruddin i think a community made store would be a great fit for all with some checking of the apps ofc before allowing so it doesn’t have some sketchy things this would give a huge advantage to the developers on adding features which google would never allow there has been a lot of drama about this in googles end as well. we could gather up people and get a store ready for these things even non nothing apps as well.

Paul_gsk Yes and for this now for current developers play store is better otherwise the Nothing team should generate new API for this. New developers can upload on the Nothing app store but current developers can’t as it won’t work.
