The Concept:
In an age where our devices are often just tools of distraction, I wanted to turn my Nothing Phone (3a) into a Memento Mori—a constant reminder of the world we live in and the potential for what we can become.
The Narrative:
The Lock Screen (The Modern Era): This is the world as it stands—cold, industrial, and restrictive. The “Unauthorized Access” and hazard symbols represent the digital walls and toxic noise of modern life. It is the “Death” of the old ways.
The Home Screen (The Rebirth): Centered above the warning that “The Phone is a Source of Radiation” sits the Butterfly. It represents the soul’s ability to undergo metamorphosis even within a toxic environment.
The Philosophy: As the Chuck Palahniuk quote on my screen says, “Losing all hope was freedom.” Only when we let go of the rigid, decaying structures of the “Modern Era” can we find the silent, complete freedom of the butterfly.
The Tech:
I’ve used the Nothing dot-matrix language not just for aesthetics, but to bridge the gap between the organic and the digital. It’s a 10/10 setup for a mindset that looks beyond the screen.
Let go. Find the butterfly.
